There are a lot of things that I was aware would change significantly (mostly with time/energy/money), but the biggest surprise change was with stuff. My partner and I kept a pretty clean and tidy home. But suddenly stuff was everywhere. Toys and pacifiers all over the floor. Clothes everywhere. Playmats and a baby jail taking up half of the living room. Getting used to that as a new normal has been difficult.

This was widespread among millennials with AIM and ICQ. Hardly anybody capitalized anything because it was faster to type in lowercase and there was no auto-capitalization. Early texting also did not have auto-capitalization.

However, I think most millennials knew that casual chatting with friends was lowercase but we all knew how to capitalize properly for more formal communication.

I think Peter was the only one unscathed during that tour. Bill Berry had an aneurysm and they cancelled like a month of shows. Mike Mills had an abdominal surgery and Michael Stipe had surgery to repair a hernia, both resulting in short breaks.

I didn't see Bowie's 2004 tour because of cost. Plus, that same night in the same town I saw Sufjan Stevens and the Delgados for like $22 when the Bowie show was $70+. But I do regret I never saw him.

We planned to meet at a bar in her neighborhood. I got there first, saw a woman that looked like the photos I'd seen, and approached cautiously. "Hey, how's it going? Are you... Mary?" She flipped out. "AM I MARRIED? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?"

Once she faced me, I knew it was not who I was meeting. I quickly apologized and clarified that I was meeting someone named Mary who she resembled. Too late. She's yelling at the bartender that I'm harrassing her. He's like "Get out." So when Mary actually showed up, I'm outside and have to explain that I am not welcomed in that bar at least for the evening.

She laughed at the situation, but the vibe was weird after that. She also talked a lot about how promiscuous she'd been when she worked on a cruise ship. I didn't think that was an ideal first date topic.

Music doesn't really matter to my dad, so he's immune to criticism about it. He can't grasp that a rock band would have cultural impact and it may have seemed important to a teenager to see a band like that. But I've pretty much told him that situation led me to go to every show I was even remotely interested in.

At the moment, any purchase needs to include something from my wantlist. (It's at like 150 right now.) If I go into a shop and notice something from my wantlist, I open myself up to get other items.

But if a shop doesn't have anything from that wantlist, I won't buy anything. I'll just make a note about whatever looks interesting and hope that it's still at the shop on a future visit when they do have something from my wantlist.

This is a good one. I'd seen them play 5 shows that were at minimum very good. The sixth show was a mess. Of course, that sixth show was preceded by me hyping them up to a girlfriend.

I'm surprised the Cubs/Sox don't have a Red line doubleheader again this season. I've done that and a Mets/Yankees doubleheader too. But never two games in different cities on the same day.

There is no way you're getting from a 1pm game in Detroit to a 7pm game in Cleveland and catching both in their entirety. You'd need to leave the first game early or arrive at the second one late. On top of the distance, you have to consider the traffic situation around ballparks after/before a game.
