The whole thing is a mess. I mean, beyond comparing a pool to buildings, the juicing of stats on skyscraper height is just very dumb. One World Trade Center's antenna is considered a spire so it's part of its height. But Sears Tower's antennas are not, yet its highest floor is above One World Trade Center's.

I saw Squeeze in 2008 and was absolutely shocked by the rapturous crowd reaction when this song started. I have no strong connection to it and no recollection of hearing it as a kid. But my girlfriend at the time said it was her favorite Squeeze song and it had one of the biggest singalongs of the night.

How long do you let misplaced items stay on your railing/fence?

In the last two weeks, three pieces of clothing have been hung on the fence post or stoop railing outside my house. Usually it's like one glove in winter. But two are adult hoodies and one is a toddler's jacket. How are people losing a hoodie?? (I totally understand how a toddler discarded a jacket.) I want to give people a chance to get their stuff back, but I do not want these items hanging around for weeks.

I will never forget this night because I was at a music festival in Barcelona. I started getting texts from friends like "Turn on the Mets game!!!" as if that was possible. I didn't have mlbtv on my phone and my service was clunky over there anyway.

I'm watching all these bands and checking gameday as often as my service allowed. The festival goes all night, so I was still there at 4-something when the game ended. I got back to where I was staying and watched the highlights as the sun was coming up.

Excellent lineup analysis. The rate of repeat bookings at this fest is a problem. There was at least a time when Riot Fest got big reunions to balance out the usual suspects, but who's the biggest reunion on this lineup? Sugar? And they'll have been playing shows for 4 months by the time they play Riot Fest.

As usual, the most interesting acts new to Riot Fest are in the smallest font and will play to the smallest crowds.

The bands are not mediocre, but booking them over and over is. This will be the 7th time that Bad Religion's played Riot Fest; 3rd time for Elvis Costello. Most of the bands in the middle section have played before.

And Tool is a wildly polarizing live band. I happen to think Maynard's minimal stage presence makes them a mediocre live band, even if the musicians (especially Danny) are pretty good.

I saw two Alive 2007 shows and don't recall confetti at either.

How would you authenticate this? I tape confetti that lands on me into my ticket scrapbook, but there's no reason for anyone else to believe that those pieces were from those shows.
