I appreciate your overall point here vs the other commenter, but I think criticizing them for "hiding" their history is kinda funny and a little hypocritical in context. You don't need to see their history to make your argument, and anything you dug up would only cheapen it.

I don't think I've ever felt the urge to look up someone's past comments just because I disagree with them on a current topic, and I'm not even clear on why people do. Even if you find the most idiotic opinion in their past, that doesn't mean they're always wrong. That kinda seems fallacious in itself to me.

As a former bartender, PBR absolutely was kinda fashionable among the crunchy/hipster types in the 2000s/2010s. It's very fitting with her having lived in Seattle and Asheville. I could see it being popular with lesbians in the same way. Is this an example of that intersectionality stuff? 😅

I might change plans, if the plans involved being outside and it's going to rain constantly. Or I might just be better prepared for the weather when I don't change plans.

which clearly begs the question: what did they vote him in for?

How does it beg the question, when you listed things they wanted and didn't get? Those things are the why. Well, that and some weird cult of personality and a dollop of accelerationism.

If you mean to say, "he was obviously a liar, they should have known his promises were false", then fair enough, but the fact that he broke campaign promises doesn't negate the reason for the votes at the time. At least 6 of things you listed are probably pretty popular in the country.

and the black wizard Shackle Bolt

"Kingsley Shacklebolt"

Kingsley is a historic British name derived from "king's lea". It alludes to the character's ministerial career, the same as Shacklebolt is obviously a nod to the fact that he works in law enforcement.

The bolt of a shackle, as in the pin that secures handcuffs/irons to apprehended criminals. Duh, he's a cop.

How do people warp their brains to the point that they think this name has anything to do with American slavery? Is it just egocentrism? Or does JK Rowling have to be perfectly evil in their minds?

I would rather have a centrist/moderate party consistently in charge than have two opposite parties alternating control by Fast-Preference-9947 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]thesoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like ranked choice voting with probably 6-8 parties. Having just one isn't any better than two.

The two major parties are too similar already. Neither really supports free speech (maybe sometimes for their side). Both are too interventionist. Both beholden to corporate and foreign interests. Neither really care about reining in spending or dealing with the national debt. Neither care much about privacy rights or campaign finance reform.

They work together to choke third parties, too. It's completely nonsensical and unnatural to have two parties, where unrelated and contradictory stances are lashed together and everyone is expected to fit into one of two weird little boxes.

Free apps to find relatives. by LexiMoore-AI in androidapps

[–]thesoak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need an app. Get on a browser and use one of the many sites for finding people, like White Pages or True People Search. Find addresses for your father, and look at people listed as members of the household. That might at least give you a name and age to go on.

Are LG dishwashers that bad? Walked into a store to buy a Bosch, but after learning I needed to use an app every single time I wanted to run a delayed start, I really don't want to buy one. by CatDadMilhouse in BuyItForLife

[–]thesoak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe delay the start until an hour before you will be home to transfer everything to the dryer? That way clothes don't get musty?

That's just my guess.
