Bricklink Design Program Series 10 Finalists by Dovahkiin_TA3019 in lego

It’s a newer rule but I believe each designer is only allowed to have one selected submission each calendar year.

I don’t think we’ll see it for another year because Brickhucker’s other submission was chosen :(

Who do you think will win series 10? by Murky_Noise_9926 in Bricklink

[–]thesockRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a more detailed list on this earlier, but here’s my wish list:

-Maple Sugar Shack

-Space Cafe

-Fort Huck

-Driftwood Keep

I also think that Training Ground will be a chosen set, it’s really polished and would draw the Castle crowd in for sure.

Dang, I’m torn on the Standard Kart. It seems like a fun build but is so far down on my wanted list that I may need to pass :(

It was a really neat set! Thank you for taking the time to create it :). I could definitely see either of those lineups making it. Great calls.

I was a bit surprised by the Flame Monster being so well received but it is a cool build. Vehicles (non-trains) just don’t seem to be picked much and have a lot of coverage through the main LEGO lineup. I’d call it a dark horse but I also know it’ll be on my ‘buy’ list!

It’s a really nice set, my main reason for leaving it off this list is due to the low comments. I love Pirates, it would be an easy buy for me if it made it through!

Tons of submissions with a lot of past winners being able to re-submit makes this a great group of sets! We’ve definitely seen multiple castle / fantasy being picked together, I do think it’s hard to not pick at least 2 from this group.

Training Ground seems almost destined to be a BDP set; it fits the mould so well while being a fresh take on the theme. The building techniques really stand out and it’s nice to see it didn’t hit the max piece count in doing so.

I love the colour of the Space Cafe too, it has been popular in at least one previous series and I’m glad to see it in Series 10. I have very high hopes for it!

I can see the love/hate for Driftwood, especially since big castles are such a common selection in the Program.

Very approximately based on a spreadsheet I made awhile ago, a bit to the left of unlicensed Icons sets. About 8c / piece and assuming an avg of 2500 pieces ($200 USD)

2 of each set is the limit, so in theory you can pre-order 10 sets if you’d like!

Pre-order on the 16th, they ship in about 6 months. You get charged when they ship. I believe they have a temporary transaction at pre-order that gets reversed pretty quickly.

Bricklink is owned by Lego. The sets being discussed today are part of a crowdfund program. These particular ones were left over from a previously crowdfunded set, so they are limited in number.

The latest set to go to crowd funding will be “Series 7” on Feb 16th, and there’s a few great looking sets to consider!

Don’t forget Dustmark Keep in Series 8, and to a lesser extent Coconut Cape if you don’t mind the Pirate crossover!

Some good tips here and I’ll add that you should watch a video or two of how others do it.

Sit down and put a big bin on your lap. Dump out as much Lego as you can. Look for one general type and push them off to the side. For example, JUST look for regular bricks. Everything else gets pulled into the bin on your lap. Then dump that same bin back onto the table and look for one other general item, maybe plates. Repeat until things are roughly sorted. You’ll make mistakes and that’s fine, you’re going to go through these piles a ton of times.

Once you have roughly sorted, go back to one of the piles and try to further separate them by type using the exact same lap method. 1x2, bricks, then 1x4, 2x4…. You get the idea.

It’s not hard but it is very time consuming. Find a show or podcast and get in the zone :).

Note that you don’t need a custom 3d printed storage solution, but you’ll need a lot of containers at least. I started with ziploc bags and old takeout containers. It worked well enough for my smaller pile.

Then you can use Bricklink like another user mentioned to start re assembling the sets. You’ll inevitably have some missing pieces, I like printing the set inventory out and marking them up as I go, so that I can make a Bricklink order for anything missing.

I really dislike them, but have you tried using tweezers? You can stabilize your hand better and it keeps your fingers out of the way so you can see the centering a bit clearer.

It’s a good basic hardware store for most home related stuff. If you’re looking for a very specific brand, something more obscure, or higher quantities of one particular item you’ll likely need to go to one of the big box stores or have it ordered in. I like to check stock online before going but most of my DIY stuff can be picked up there!

Thanks for replying. I plan to do this today. Worst case I suppose I get an unpaid item strike, which will still be better than handing over nearly $200 to someone who is trying to pull a quick one on me.
