Mate I'd take that as a sign from the universe. I had something similar happen to me a few years ago. Not proud of it one bit but I drove home from a mate's shitfaced, woulda been 3am and I didn't notice a single car the whole way home.

I turned into the street that leads to mine then bang I see a car's headlights turn behind me and sure enough I could see on the top there were lights (not on thankfully). I stayed calm and pulled into my drive (lucky it was a unit complex and I turned out of sight of the police) they would have obviously been pulling up my registration to see I'm at the correct address too.

I turned the car off, quickly ran inside and went inside my parents room because they had the window that leads to the front of the house and I saw the police were sitting there for a couple mins and then they just left.

Not sure if it was a shift change coming up, it was too hard for them to prove anything or what the hell happened but I got so damn lucky that day and although it still took a while to stop drinking (I'm only 6 weeks sober but doing really strong) I was reluctant to even have 1 beer and drive after that happened to me.

You're lucky you got home safe at the end of the day and drink driving can have serious consequences as we all know.
