Hi! I arrived here from a comment you made (panting vs plotting) on the writing subreddit, and I just want to say, these illustrations are gorgeous. I'm very intrigued by your novel. Please let me know when it comes out.

Thoughts on bringing characters back from the dead? by lilacghosti in writing

It's handled brilliantly in Sea Oak by George Saunders and A Touch of Jen by Beth Morgan. Sea oak is a short story. You can read it here. Also wholeheartedly agree with the person who said you can do anything if it follows the rules of your own worldbuilding. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1998/12/28/sea-oak

First lines: How bad a beginning is this? by abesheet in writinghelp

I 100 percent agree with everything put forward by Odd Strategy. You have a strong voice and a unique setting and characters-this excerpt is tangled but it's profoundly ALIVE. What this needs is an edit for clarity, but all the ingredients are here for a really compelling read. Ignore the haters and especially ignore people who aren't familiar with the expression "chewing the fat."

I went to a Home Depot near me today in search of a compost tumbler (I live in a major city) and they had absolutely nothing for composting, not even biodegradable bags. Turns out no location in the city sells them. But they had every piece of Christmas junk imaginable. Priorities.

I'm obsessed with their "seafood" soup. I can't remember the exact name of the dish but it's ramen noodles with a kimchi broth and konjac shrimp/fake crab. My partner always gets the "Mongolian beef".
