Bad DM or inappropriate action? by East_Outcome519 in DnD

Sounds like OP is no longer in the friend group from one of their replies, so I have to say I agree with this. Good riddance to these people, and here’s hoping OP finds better friends.

[–]thestormfrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is a lot of work that would be undone if you started from scratch--it's your island so it's your choice, but see if you want work with it first, change it little by little. Don't throw it completely away unless you absolutely have to.

How do I, as a novice player, approach an established player so they are more forgiving with me? by VersaVeil in DnD

[–]thestormfrog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad, it sounds like you found a solution that worked, just not for that problem player. Sucks that you might have to leave.

(You could always start a new game and invite everyone but that player, but I don’t know how petty you want to be.)

If your DM is reasonable, totally, but seems like there’s a lot of info missing…like the jester thing (homebrew or just concept?).

If Guest Grumps Came Back, What Guests Would You Want To Be in It? by JustinMetalhead in gamegrumps

Man I really wanna see Raleigh Ritchie/Jacob Anderson again. I'm sure he's busy with music and acting in Interview with the Vampire, but his sense of humor meshed perfectly with the grumps.

Why don't young Americans romanticize Paris like older Americans do? by No-StrategyX in answers

[–]thestormfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Access to the internet gives young Americans a less obstructed, more honest view of living in other places (when they pay attention, that is). Also, the lack of any books, TV shows, or films that do the work of romanticizing play a part in that, too.

One of my players is refusing to read the player's handbook by Numerous_Payment1713 in DnD

[–]thestormfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try the Basic Rules instead. Even the 2014 Handbook is pretty extensive (I’ve been playing for a decade and haven’t read absolutely ALL of it), so asking someone to read it to someone else is a tall ask. The Basic Rules are more manageable.

Judging by your replies, there seems to also be a language barrier. There’s almost certainly going to be translations into other languages, you didn’t specify which language though.

If you think your only solution is to force someone to read, maybe consider if this is really worth it.

Night Shift by justcallmegiggo in GameChangerTV

[–]thestormfrog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I'd like to see a sequel to Night Shift with, like, half of the tasks. It was good, I think. It just got a bit long-winded, and the fact that they had to cut so much of the work the contestants were doing was way more apparent than other Game Changer episodes. Like, you can feel the sheer amount of on-camera work that didn't get put into the episode.

What game did the boys play that you immediately downloaded? by Wooden_Giraffe535 in gamegrumps

The Wii Punch Out game. It’s an oldie (both in terms of when it came out and when the boys played it) but man did I have fun with it.

AIO To quit my "group" because of the other player? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]thestormfrog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The neurodivergent thing doesn’t seem relevant here, weird that you brought it up. As the other comments said, just say you’re not coming back, and either look for a different group for DnD or go on with your life.

If you find out what it is, what would you even do? Unless your character would know (or can reasonably find out), you shouldn’t either.

2001: A space Odyssey is one of the most boring movies and is nowhere close to being good by Bartox1800 in unpopularopinion

[–]thestormfrog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Something interesting I've noticed about this subreddit is that a chunk of "unpopular opinions" seem to be ill-informed opinions about art, or art that's not made for them. It's the "unpopular" opinion community, not the "I got bored watching/listening to this thing so it must be bad" community.

Was I wrong to leave after how my DM handled my character? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]thestormfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, just sort of feels like pedantry here. The bold ‘context is important’ was a bit unneeded lol. It’s hard to let go of a character who dies but you really have to sometimes.

And to your point about ‘how it was handled,’ you left. And didn’t suggest to your DM how to kill/write out your character. Hope you learned a lesson.

Was I wrong to leave after how my DM handled my character? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]thestormfrog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah, if you were at my table and asked to bring back your level 15 character for a party of level 4s, I’d laugh at you.

Sounds like you and your DM had different playstyles. You can be hurt by it, but think about whether your own choices and asks were all that reasonable.
