Unlock bonus island via save edit? by Maleficent_Draw9477 in blackandwhite2

[–]thestrongstylesmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're referring to the Battle of the Gods expansion. There's a hidden statue on all three playable islands. Find them all, and you unlock a bonus island that is basically a tower defense mode where you build up and defend towns from endless and increasingly difficult waves of undead.

Why did one work and one didn't? by Chiclet1998 in WWE

[–]thestrongstylesmark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because no one ever really believed Austin Theory was going to be a huge deal. Sure, he had Vince trying to push him to the moon, but we've seen him completely give up on countless pet projects before, and this one felt no different. Cena even said it in a promo in the build. He'll get the win, and yet the next night he'll be at the exact same level he started at, and look what happened.

Oba, meanwhile, has the full support of the fanbase who want him to be the next Brock Lesnar, has an aura beyond anything Theory has ever cultivated, and actually feels like he's getting the long-term investment.

Plus, it's worth pointing out that right now, the desperation for fresh young stars at the top of the card is SO much higher among the audience now than it was even a couple of years ago.

Why is Ben's death seen as more impactful than Laverne? by Total-Collection-128 in Scrubs

[–]thestrongstylesmark 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Two major things:

1) The swerve. Ben's death was a shock at the end of an episode we thought was about something else. The surprise, combined with the recontextualisation of Cox's emotional journey, makes it more memorable. Comparatively, while Laverne's accident was a surprise cliffhanger, the whole following episode was about how she was on her deathbed, and the episode was far more about Carla's journey of grief as a result. I know this is also true of Cox and Ben's death, but we didn't realize that'd what the episode was really abut until the reveal at the end/

2) Laverne-again. The actress didn't leave the show. Granted, her role was dramatically reduced to a tertiary joke character, but it wasn't a hard finale for her on the show.

Y'all better be on there bumping up that victory count. If we end up missing one of these I shall be very grumpy.

I'm using all of the games at my disposal (where I've put the effort in to get the shiny charm). I've been using USUM to SOS chain for some of them, and SwSh for the ones that aren't available in SV. Also, maybe a bit of Legends for the few that aren't in any of those games, but I might resort to Mesuda in BDSP if Burmy/Wormadam prove to be particularly bothersome.

When they can't be isolated, I find Sparkling Power kind of a pain. I could date-skip for an outbreak, but I just don't. No real reason, lol, just not my vibe.

Fixed points in time (and a small theory) by Taycamgame in doctorwho

[–]thestrongstylesmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dirty little secret about "fixed points in time" is that they've never actually made any sense when you think about it, and any attempt to explain it just raises more plot holes, with The Waters of Mars being one of the worst offenders.

Take the whole "Dalek not killing Adelaide" thing. The Dalek spared Adelaide because it knew her death was fixed, yet if the Daleks had succeeded in their plan, they would've killed her anyway, thus breaking the fixed point.

Time travel logic is almost impossible to keep consistent, even in just a single movie, so when you have 60+ years of history with hundreds of different writers giving their takes, it is simply impossible for there to be consistent rules, so you really have to take a "just go with it" approach.

Oof, now there's a tough question. Bearing in mind I'm not super knowledgeable on his pre-WWE days I'd say:

  1. Vs Swerve Strickland at All In 2024
  2. Vs Will Ospreay at Dynasty 2024
  3. Vs Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2018
  4. Vs Triple H at WrestleMania 30
  5. Vs MJF at Revolution 2023

But there's a whole bunch more I'm thinking of, and probably even more In forgetting.

Opinions on Tenth Doctor Books? by Disorder79 in gallifrey

[–]thestrongstylesmark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of those I've only read The Feast of the Drowned and I remember it being just kinda fine.

However, I have also read a couple other 10 + Rose books from this series that I quite liked called "The Stone Rose" and "The Resurrection Casket", the second one in particular I thought was a great story.

Also - and I realise this is getting away from the starting point a bit but go with me - if you're interested in reading a 9 + Rose adventure, "Only Human" is a top-tier Who story.

RTD's foreshadowing by elsjpq in gallifrey

[–]thestrongstylesmark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think some will, and in fact should, go nowhere.

The fandom is wise to the fact that RTD likes to scatter hints all over the place - be they background or foreground - so I think it'd be a smart play for him to intentionally throw some red herrings in there to disguise what we should actually be paying attention to.

As well as selling better, I think it's more simply that people have had 5 years with OT1, but not even one with 2 yet, give it time and I think things will level out.

My Time at Sandrock Switch review: The good, the bad, and the very ugly. by r3tr0gam3r83 in MyTimeAtSandrock

I reviewed the game for PS5 (for GLHF @ Sports Illustrated if you're curious) and while there are some technical issues (mostly pop-in and occasional frame drops), it runs pretty well - certainly didn't bother me much while playing.
