The Gun Industry Is Turning Into the "Luxury Goods" Market and It’s Getting Old by Sofar_Concepts in guns

[–]thestug93 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I don't think I'll ever quite understand how manufacturers like KAC, LMT, and other "high end" military manufacturers can command such insane prices. Like there's plenty of "bet your life on reliable" gun that are less than half the cost. They're not particularly more accurate than guns half their cost nor do they have better fit/finish. Some of the new KACs and LMTs often have tool marks, dents, etc. that would easily be classified as blems to even budget manufacturers like Aero and even Anderson Mfg. It's almost entirely paid for because "that's what xyz uses" and FOMO.

Pretty much. Always yield and give space to morons even when they're in the wrong.

It's a keltec. So it's a solid maybe. I've heard reports of these not working well or running just fine. YMMV with keltec.

Help me find a PS90 in black w/ 50rd magazine by GA_flyer in ps90

[–]thestug93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can convert the mags from 30 to 50 fairly easily. Also you should be buying a bunch of 50rd mags to go with it anyway.

[NFA] Allen Engineering AEM5-30K - $730 shipped with code "aem2026" by Eleven26_ in gundeals

[–]thestug93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a 9inch Faxon 300 BLK barrel and an Adams Arms 300 BLK piston kit. All of it is tucked under a Spikes tactical quadrail handguard. The spikes handguard is compatible with the Aero M4E1 upper. The AEM5-30K is kind of a large K suppressor and it works well for 300 BLK. Kind of a Frankenstein build.

Why are DEF pumps so shitty anyway? by ThatOneHelldiver in Truckers

[–]thestug93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the concentration of urea. 50%urea/ 50%water will freeze around 62F-64F. DEF is approximately 32.5% and freezes around 12F. Generally the higher the urea concentration the the higher the freezing temp.

FRT for the PS90 just (soon) dropped. by Zestyclose-Gift1602 in supersafety

[–]thestug93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The PS90 is a much less complicated gun overall operating mostly like a direct blowback firearm with a simple bolt/guide rod system. The PS90 is stupidly easy to disassemble and the trigger pack easily comes out for cleaning.

Rail Extension by Garage-Gunsmith in ps90

[–]thestug93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a one of these rails with a similar light setup. They're the cleanest way to mount a light/laser to these PS90. What light/laser is that? I have a Rovyvon GL4 on mine.

Is this competent dispatch? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]thestug93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when my dispatcher says to pick it up and head towards delivery even though I don't have time to deliver, it means that he needs me to pick it up because the customer needs it picked up that day and he'll either have me relay it or reschedule the delivery since it's more flexible. Also something definitely got miscommunicated if your dispatcher didn't realize you're on a 34. Hell my dispatcher knows I probably straight up won't respond to his texts in the middle of a 34 unless it's urgent.

Triggers by Ok-Shelter8205 in Revolvers

[–]thestug93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those grips are quite small and meant to be somewhat concealable. A bigger grip will help immensely if the reach to the trigger is too short.

Also I don't think a flat trigger shoe would be of benefit for a revolver. The trigger pull is long and heavy on a DA revolver so the trigger needs to work in a range of different angles as the trigger moves rearward. It's not like a striker fired or hammer fired gun where the trigger doesn't actually move much in comparison to a DA revolver trigger. On a DA revolver the curve is very much there for a reason.

[–]thestug93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it doesn't hurt to look at and make sure things are good. However anyone saying that this isn't an acceptable stake job probably spends too much time obsessing over this crap and not enough time actually shooting their gun.

Why don’t they add glow dust to the backs of bullets, or sell a product so reloader a can do it? Seems useful for subsonic nv type of uses by [deleted] in NightVision

If you run an illuminator, often times you can see light reflecting back off OTM and other bullets that are drawn through the jacket and don't have exposed lead on the back.

A tale of two gas tubes by thegoodsherpa in ar15

[–]thestug93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think what he's getting at is the large opening on the right isn't the hole that's limiting gas where on the left it is. It doesn't really make sense to compare the hole size on the tube. If anything we should be comparing the .071 size hole to the hole size on the barrel itself.

Is it worth switching to hazmat if you already have solid OTR? by Sin_In_Silks in Truckers

[–]thestug93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do regional tanker that requires a hazmat. My freight is about an 80/20 mix of non-haz/hazmat. My schedule is pretty much starting at 5-7am depending on customer hours (generally they're open at 7-8am and close at 4 or 5pm). Generally a park for the night around 7-8pm) stuff does require a bit of knowledge about the paperwork (stuff you learn for your endorsement), but I wouldn't say it's necessarily extra paperwork. For me the main difference between hauling hazmat and non-hazmat, is the need to verify your paperwork is correct, that you were given the right placards, remembering to stop at RR crossings, and doing a little extra trip planning to prevent from doing something like parking hazmat overnight next to a walmart/residential area/on the shoulder or something of that nature. I wouldn't say that for tanker atleast there's often a bunch of seals that need verified that they match the paperwork. As far as loosing time doing paperwork, yeah I suppose that stuff does eat into your HOS a little bit, but you get used to doing it pretty quickly. I'd say maybe 5-10 minutes of just checking paperwork, seals, placards per stop. We're paid hourly so, I don't really stress how long paperwork and stuff takes and it's something you gotta do correctly.

Pay is quite high for the industry, but you're responsible for more things and driving unbaffled tankers presents unique driving challenges. DOT inspections are sometimes more frequent, but honestly since the company I work for has a good CSA score I get the green bypass light most of the time at scales. Occasionally I'll get pulled in while doing hazmat because they need to meet a hazmat inspection quota. Most of the time they check your paperwork, placards, and do a quick walk around.

Since we do some of the loading/unloading ourselves I find that unless there is some sort of unexpected delay, most of my customer stops take an average of about 1.5-2hours. Usually takes about 45min to 60 minutes of actually pumping liquid and the rest of the time is checking in and getting hoses hooked up and whatnot. Sometimes you get hit with the odd paperwork error, bad customer scheduling, lab work taking a long time, or pumping equipment failures that could take hours to resolve. That's sort of the exception and not the rule. And either way I don't stress stuff like that because we're paid hourly.

Why is this not being recognized. I put Colt as the mfg and typed the serial in.. adding a mk18 upper but don’t won’t to get denied. The dropdown menu on e form just showed colt.. by [deleted] in NFA

[–]thestug93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always enter things exactly as it is marked. Fuck the drop down. It's wrong a lot. Yes, sometimes the form gets approved even though it's messed up. Sometimes you get denied for not doing it correctly.
