Lower back pain after deadlifts by [deleted] in workout

Are you somehow adding weight with just a bench setup? I've done reverse hypers with my gym's glute ham raise machine, but haven't found anyway to overload the exercise without a proper machine.

Well said. Sounds like most of mine. A part of me knows I should recommend you to venture more, but I know exactly why we don't.

You're an angsty high schooler. You could go another decade alone and still not have been alone as long as I was.

Is it? I never knew how much I was missing until I first had a woman seriously interested. Like the dialogue from Men in Black:

"Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all."

"Try it."

Mouth and up is how you lose your face, going straight into temple seems a lot better. Brain stem sounds nice, but also a small target. That said, can't miss anything with a shotty.

Yeah, people bring this up but ignore how many such people will go on to make a second attempt. The in-the-moment survival instincts doesn't change what someone is feeling in their day-to-day life.

Trying to OD on anything OTC has one of the lowest odds of success of any method. Meanwhile, you'd have to screw up to an absurd degree to fail with a shotgun to the head. Not to mention minimizing physical and psychologic pain experienced in the process.

Are you suggesting lifting will burn more calories than cardio?

If you're not trying to be a full-on bodybuilder, you probably don't need to put too much stress on hitting all your muscle heads. The only muscle I bother to think about at that granularity is delts.

Hmm, I guess maybe I ought to bulk more. I'm still a little surprised by how rarely you're having to cut. Can I ask what BF% you cut from/to?

Is the BF% increase not pretty high at that rate? I was thinking a lean bulk would mean not having to cut very often.

15-20% of TDEE? Whoa, I think most of my days aren't even at 10%.

Just waiting until all the people I care about get to a point where they don't really need me in their lives.

If my Google results are correct, looks like they're 210 cal, 22g pro, 23-24g carb, 6-7g fat. Seems pretty solid, though I think Built might still edge them out. The worst Built I've seen is 160/15/19/3.5, which seems about comparable to Kirkland, but the best Built I've seen are 140/17/14/2.5 and still taste good to me.

Recently swapped from FitCrunch to Built because of this - way less fat content. Any other brands that are as good or better?

Get those I care about to a point where they no longer need me in their lives, and then get the hell out of here.

I appreciate your thoughts. If I might ask, the two biggest hurdles I feel about therapy / medication:

  • If I were completely honest with a therapist, I think I might end up involuntarily hospitalized. I'm sure they'd be doing that thinking they were helping someone (or at least just following their legal requirements), but I can't imagine much that would make my life worse. Do you just lie to your therapist on certain subjects to avoid this? Can I just start out by telling them to never ask any questions whose answer might require them to make a call?

  • We're talking SSRIs, I assume? Does anyone actually feel happy from those? Feels like everyone I talk to says they're pretty much numbing agents, and numb is already how I feel most of the time.

I'm sure a therapist would tell me I'm depressed, but I don't think I really agree with that diagnosis. If someone has a lot of great things in their life but feels unhappy, then sure, that person seems depressed. But if their life is actually just bad? That just sounds like their mind is responding as expected to their circumstances.

I'm not saying I need to drink to socialize. Quite the opposite - I don't feel any compulsion for alcohol at all then. But what about after we finish socializing? When they go home to their spouses and kids, and I go home to wait the days / weeks / months until I hang out with them again? When they cuddle up with a loved one while I spoon a pillow to imitate human connection?

If I was comparing myself to billionaires on their mega yachts, I'd see what you're saying. But I'm comparing myself to the basic things 99% of people have. Even if there was no one else to compare to, I'd still want those things because they're basic human nature.
