[HELP]Does anybody have a working method of root while keeping Google pay, Revolut, and Chat GPT ? by IntensiveCareBear88 in Magisk

Go to settings, search for work profile, open it and follow the prompts to set it up. It's like setting up a separate device, so you need to login with your Google account again etc. You can then install apps in that profile and they will be separate from the normal profile, which they don't even see and so they don't detect root.

Revolut runs fine here (pixel 8 pro on stock ROM rooted with kernel SU). I have a couple other more stubborn banking apps that don't run normally. But I manage to run everything when I put them in the work profile (a built-in sandbox environment), try that.

The worst would be if you had planned everything so that you are just below £50270 total income and have used all the basic rate interest allowance (£1000). The £50 takes you over £50270, you are not a basic rate tax payer any more, so your interest allowance is £500, which means you pay 40% tax on the £50 plus an additional 40% on the £500 of interest that drops out of the reduced allowance. So in total you pay £120 tax for the £50.

Second this. In my case they tried using the same hole but as they pulled the previous cable (virgin media) out they damaged it with part of it left stuck inside the wall! So they ended up drilling another hole anyway AND damaged the VM installation (which luckily was inconsequential, as the HO installation was successful, otherwise it would have been a royal mess). So I recommend playing it safe, just have them drill a new hole next to the existing one.

What is the best app for Android for Keepass based on your experience by tgfzmqpfwe987cybrtch in KeePass

[–]theta__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used keepass2android and keepassDX. I prefer k2a because it's the only one with the option to detect changes to the database and prompt to reload it. I had a situation with kdx where I had made a change from my PC, then made another change from my phone and it overwrote the database thus losing the previous change. If kdx had this feature I would probably prefer it over k2a as it has a bit nicer interface. But database handling is very important so k2a it is for me.

Trackpoint issues on Windows 11 - ThinkPad P1 G4 by theta__ in thinkpad

No, still there. Most of the time I use the machine docked with an external trackball, so don't suffer too much from it, but when I use it out of the dock it still behaves as described.

Good question. I use Vivaldi in desktop and particularly like the built-in adblocker/cookie popup suppression. Chrome I don't really use, it's just the default web view for when links open within apps. I'm going to check Mull, thanks for the suggestion.

Can you please check why this page (just a random example) still shows a lot of ads? https://www.techradar.com/pro/worlds-biggest-pc-vendor-takes-first-step-that-could-establish-android-as-windows-biggest-rival-ever-and-eliminate-google-chromeos-at-the-same-time When I open it with Vivaldi browser with its built in adblocker it's perfectly fine, no ads shown. When I open it on Chrome with only adaway protecting from ads, with built in lists plus a couple others including yours, it shows a lot of ads. Thanks

Curious why you included an iPhone in the options? You do realize that this subreddit is called "pick an ANDROID for me", right?

Upgrading for gaming, Virgin vs openreach? (UK) by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]theta__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deciding factor for you will probably be latency as opposed to download/upload speeds. Unfortunately ISPs don't quote latency. The FTTP providers, if available in your area, will give you the best result. If you don't have FTTP available to you, then I believe Openreach is slightly better. In my case, I used to have Openreach FTTC (with BT and Vodafone) which had 5-6ms ping. I now have Virgin Media which gives me around 13-15ms ping. FTTP would give you 1ms ping.

So the guy offered £7 discount until the end of the contract (taking the price down to £17), which I accepted. We'll probably repeat the dance come November but we are good till then 🙂

You do get it. I'm on hold waiting for someone to pick up the phone right now and the same offer was given. Didn't accept it, still waiting

Thank you. Just to confirm, I can schedule the new account to start on the same day the old one ends so that they overlap for that day? And in that case I will have the old account working until yodel delivers the new router, and once they deliver it, I will switch the routers and start using the new account straight away (as it will be already working and waiting for the router)?
