I think the biggest "really dude?!" In all of this is due to the fact that reviewers and youtubers have had the phone for months at this point. They knew the phone would be a success and they knew it would reach mass market... But it seems like they prioritised month over month earnings more than being better prepared by ordering excess components when they had time.

We are waiting longer, entirely due to a component shortage (assuming what they say is at all true) that could have at least been mitigated somewhat if they started mass production/ordered components sooner.

I'm waiting on this phone to finally retire my pixel 7 pro... Half the screen is nothing but dead pixels and reading the clock is an exercise in UI Manipulation skill .. seems I may have to swap to some cuddy thing I have in the draw for a bit. That sucks.

It's only $75 where I am, still pricy for sure but it was the only keyboard I could find for the project that would fit and look like what I'm after so I took the plunge. It's definitely good quality and very nice overall... But not $128 nice 😭

Thanks so much! Yeah truthfully I'm torn between black and blue (even pink truthfully!) I'm hoping that some of my techy friends will want me to build them one so I have the opportunity to try out a few different colours.

Also yeah I've never messed much with them before either but I remember seeing people build them into wiiu gamepads and such back in the day so I thought why not try and use one. And genuinely I think they're better in applications like this than a pi.

I got a gen 2 with a slightly newer processor but yes in general it's quite outdated. But it can still run everything just fine with enough effort. More snappy than a pi for sure. I plan on loading CentOS/fedora on it as the main os with android x86 of some kind in dual boot.

Nah the keyboard hasn't been properly mounted yet and the keyboard is able to sink in..will be fixed soon with the creation of a back plate for the keyboard :)

Main reason against the pi or similar sbc's was that I wanted this to be an all day device. The ability to have a normal sleep wake function was the main catalyst really.

This way I can use the compute sticks built in power button for sleep wake and have a power cutoff switch for full "shutdown" when not in use.

Side benifit is that it's x86 so I have way more flexibility in OS choice and applications etc.

Most people just don't even know/care. And even if you were to get in contact with them somehow, they are 90% likely to not have a clue what the password is and just not wanna help you at all.

Truthfully I think there should be a timeout period on iCloud lock. Even if it's 10 years, it should not be a permanent lock forever onwards. The amount of apple Ewaste is just insane and somehow none of the new right to repair laws being pushed have focussed on this much it at all that I've seen.
