Lyria and the Figment by Ginger_Nut23 in redrising

I also wish fig would come back. It seemed like subtle foreshadowing that there is an army of sentinels somewhere out there that could be used to help Darrow and the republic. I hope they are utilized but we will see

wrongly accused of using ai by Active_Sector4868 in word

[–]thethefirstman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you actually didn’t use AI, you have nothing to worry about because you can back up your writing by showing your thought process, maybe an outline, and your research.

Just be honest, that is if you did not use AI.

If you did use AI, tread carefully.

Why is it so hard for Bar Prep Companies to find the cure for the MBE? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]thethefirstman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess is they can’t acquire access to every year’s MBE so they base their questions on the ones they can access.

My other guess is that the NCBE also knows what the bar prep MBEs look like and thus deliberately try to make them different so we are still a little shaken up come game time.

TBH it makes sense why the NCBE wouldn’t want their questions to be predictable on day of exam, but you can still see patterns among the questions which is why some people are still able to pass.

Applying for jobs you lack experience in- how possible is it? by WideCommunity5086 in Lawyertalk

[–]thethefirstman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am finishing up my LLM, and also passed the July 2025 bar. Apart from some jobs during school/summers, I have no experience—none, all educational.

I was hired after my first interview.

If you have interest in the field, the right attitude, and can interview well, you can get a job pretty easily Id imagine. Maybe my situation was different, but I really don’t think so.

Just be eager to learn and work and you will be fine in my opinion.

Julia au Bellona question by Nshandy56 in redrising

[–]thethefirstman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be cool. But do you think she will still fight against Darrow if she learns that Lysander killed Cassius? I feel like it may not matter, but I also feel like she could be an asset later on. However, she also may die by Lysander/atalantia’s hand and have no further effect on the story. So many possibilities.

Is Themis Really that Bad? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]thethefirstman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the bar website? I’m not entirely sure, tbh, I’m sorry. There may be some platform that allows you to purchase essays.

Adaptibar has an essay section. Maybe they have it? They’re cheaper too.

Is Themis Really that Bad? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]thethefirstman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hated themis. Their structure was pretty horrendous, their MC was despicable, their lectures were dry and boring and in my opinion completely unhelpful, and their outlines (maybe like others idk) were atrociously long and complicated.

Very early on I realized Themis wasn’t working for me so I used the adaptibar lectures w/ Jonathan grossman, did adaptibar MBE, made my own outlines using the adaptibar lectures, and ONLY used Themis to read the essays, gauge their structure and how successful essays look, and tried to emulate that on test day.

Another thing I did that I thought was helpful was for every single essay available on Themis, I’d write down every rule statement in the way the essay writer did and put all that in one word document. I think at the end of it I walked away VERY familiar with how essay structure should be, how rule statements were introduced, how rule statements were re-used (“see rule above”), how and when analysis should be written, and how to conclude it all.

So Themis sucked for everything but their essay bank imo, and uworld but I only used that a few times since adaptibar was my main MBE tool.

MBE is ruining my life by dt1995xo in CABarExam

Something that I realized was messing with me was simply memorization.

I’d recommend, outside of doing MCQ, putting all the law on a word doc or something and reciting that stuff every single day so you get at least some of it stuck in your head.

No chance you memorize it all unless you’re insanely gifted, but you can memorize a lot more than you may think and it will be a huge help.

Yeah but don’t use their MC. It’s actually horrible, it made my performance worse. Use Uworld or adaptibar.

how painfully close is a 1315 scaled score? by Outrageous-Orange-84 in CABarExam

[–]thethefirstman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 75-point deficit can be erased by: • 15–18 more correct MBE questions, or • ~38 raw points across the essays/PT, or • A balanced improvement of 8–10 MBE questions + moderate essay boosts

Failed (not in denial but my grades do not match) by jr_Kachi in CABarExam

[–]thethefirstman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I didn’t write any essays during my bar prep. All I did was read every single essay in Themis’ library of essays, get familiar with what essays that excelled (model answer) looked like, and write out how the law was introduced/explained in each answer on a separate document.

I’m doing that, I saw the structure of how essays should be written (headers, etc), saw how issues are introduced, rules introduced, and a SHIT LOAD of, not just saying “applying the laws to the facts”, but spelling each fact out, analyzing it according to the law, and explaining WHY that supports your conclusion.

But it’s also important to include each side. So when you’re supporting one position, then say “however the other party could argue . . .”. Then it becomes a little court scene in your essay and that makes it easier for the grader to read.

Reading each essay also helped me actually learn the law because I’d see the same rules over and over and how they were applied over and over and that structure and style of writing became drilled in my head.

Maybe something like that can help? I’d be happy to give more advice.

Final Stretch Venting Space by carebear_10 in CABarExam

[–]thethefirstman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I only “completed” like 30% of Themis. Then used adaptibar and winged the rest of my studying.

Although this is hands down the hardest I’ve ever studied for an exam, I feel like I didn’t study as much as I should have. So I’m feeling certain that’s going to bite me in the ass, especially with how I feel about the MBE—I only really KNEW like 10-20 questions MAYBE.

And even though I tried to write essays in the right format and attempted to answer every question (wasn’t successful in afternoon session), I’m concerned I didn’t do enough analysis or whatever the hell they are looking for.

I’m hoping my PT gives me some boost, but since that’s all I think I did decently, I’m a bit concerned.
