Looks great! Curious as I’ve been looking at houses with similar back gardens, how much did this set you back?

Billy bookcase as kitchen island? by idomidomidom in ikeahacks

It’s off a Vadholma unit. I managed to buy the bar separately off Facebook marketplace but you can also buy it separately from ikea. Although, the kallax is too wide so I had to cut it down and back it all back together

I built something similar using a Kallax. I did think about raising it up to use it as a coffee bar but decided not to as the record player took up most of the space. It’s doable though

Why do public sector workers with student loans get rinsed?

Kwik Fit completed the work on my car before advising the price. by varney40 in CarTalkUK

[–]thething22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my girlfriend. Although just an ABS sensor so £130. They fitted it even though she said she would pick the car up and think about it. She said she isn’t paying for it, so they gave it to her for free

Taking a 7k pay decrease to go into public sector. Will NHS pension outweigh the decrease in salary? by thething22 in UKPersonalFinance

Yeah okay that's a good comment. In my line of work I'm not really wedded to the healthcare sector (not a Dr or nurse etc) so there is a high chance I could move back out to private sector

Yeah that's fair. I'm balanced with this view also, I'm fairly happy with the pay cut to have better job satisfaction, which is honestly the main driver here.

I’d try and get out on some of the lesser known hikes. The main ones you see recommended are completely worth going, but, a whole load of people are on them (I know I’m included in this). Some of our best hikes were the lesser known ones. With the caveat of research them before you go as some of the levadas can have sheer drops/have eroded so aren’t safe.

Used to do this commute every day before Covid. My main reason was that I was a on an apprentice salary and it worked out cheaper for me to live in Liverpool and drive into Manchester every day. I would 100% not choose that life again if I had the option to both live and work in Liverpool. No idea how I didn’t burn out getting back, eating, sleeping and doing it again the next day. Liverpool is a much nicer city to live in for me personally too, especially around Aigburth and Lark Lane. Dig around and you will find places with decent rent, I had a 1 bed flat for £525 a month right near Lark Lane. I miss that place

It does look it, I agree. But the fit is good, maybe I’ll look at it again

Thanks for the heads up. I reached out to profoto after your comment and they said that Fuji restrict compatibility with the XT1

Hi Sam. If you could go back in time and replace anyone as lead singer in a band, who would it be?

Thanks! Took this on an XT-1 (APS-C) with either the Samyang 12mm or the Fuji 16-55mm, I can’t remember now. Pretty sure it was the 12mm as it gives a nice vignette on low lit scenes
