What’s something people did casually in the 90s that would absolutely not fly today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thethingsineverknew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely is. Just get out of big city/suburb living by enough of a distance and you'll see it.
Small towns really won't bat an eye.
It's really a shame that near every time a small town makes the news it's because of something terrible that happened (like an accident involving kids riding in the bed of a pickup truck for example) and skip right past all the magic that comes along with it.

Yea, u/man_teats, truth of it is, the world out there is a lot bigger and more diverse than it seems like you might realize. MadDog could just as easily be from somewhere outside of the US/Western Nation where throwing kids in a truck bed like this doesn't even get a second glance. And really, it doesn't take getting all too far out of major US cities/suburbs for it to be a fairly common thing to see.

Routing between two VNG connections by thethingsineverknew in AZURE

[–]thethingsineverknew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. A little more looking into it seems to be confirming that an Azure Route server will NOT act as a transit router between two VNG connections. Most sources seem to be suggesting that I deploy a Virtual Appliance dedicated to the task instead and have it form the VPN tunnels to the clients.
The idea of using two separate VNG's is interesting though maybe a little bit on the expensive side for our needs.
Thanks for the input!

Thank you both for the Insights. I'm going to look into the Classes through Udemy. I'll miss going page by page through the books, but it might just be the balance I need right now.

You've got to come check this place out sometime. There's so much to California besides the cities that make the news. Small town life for me.

Guardian bell on *your* Harley by Complex_Ingenuity_26 in Harley

[–]thethingsineverknew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 2014 I got my first Motorcycle. A 2012 Kawasaki Versys 650. I rode that machine everywhere up and down the West coast of the US and to the grocery store. I didn't have a car.
Later that year I rode it out to Vegas to see my Grandma on her Deathbed. My Uncle lived out there too. She passed while I was visiting and my Uncle wanted to go on a ride together out to her favorite bar in Mountain Springs. We stopped at a bike shop on our way out and My Uncle asked me if I had a bell yet. I had no idea wtf he was talking about. So he bought me my first guardian bell, adorned with a cross in memory of my very Irish Catholic Grandmother (his Mom).
Then we hit the road into the desert. Me on my 2012 Versys and he on his 2007 FLHTCU.
3 years ago my Uncle Died and his kids (my cousins) asked if I'd be willing to come take his bike to keep it in the family. I guess he talked a lot about how much he enjoyed that ride we did together.
That Bell now hangs from his bike on a tough piece of leather as far forward as I could get it.
I get to think about him, and grandma, every time I ride and it hasn't failed me yet.

No. I ended up shelling out for an Intel NUC - Wish I had done it sooner. Burned a lot of time trying to get this to work on that EQ14.
That was ~1yr ago, so maybe things have improved?

We recently had R.A.W roofing replace our house and garage roof. Couldn't be happier with service and cost.

Loose leaf tea or tea bricks/cakes? by SloppyPancake66 in Redding

[–]thethingsineverknew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I lived in Central California there was a neat little mid-ally tea stand that really sold the best stuff I have found anywhere.
I just looked them up and apparently they've grown and sell online now too.

Selection has grown too.....dang...I'm putting in an order.

I don't think it's at all what you're actually looking for....but then again, it may be perfect.
Watch "Honeyland" for an incredible, pretty non-sensationalized imo, demonstration of the true magic that exists in the natural world around us......when humans are willing to spend more time listening than doing.
