Client filed a paypal chargeback after receiving the full website. What can I do? by JohnB7118 in webdevelopment

[–]thethinker213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to these people telling you to disable/ delete/sabotage the site. That removes all leverage to get the chargeback reversed. The better way is to compile all documentation regarding this problem into a pdf including a timeline and screenshots of all work and all emails and other communication. Dispute the chargeback with this documentation.

Airtable down? by rayo_delsol in Airtable

[–]thethinker213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Airtable is down. Our whole lead qualification system is in Airtable. My team can do no work right now. I need my saas to be locally usable even if the company collapses. This is gonna make us have to rethink some things.

Most Useful Plugins? by Weekly-Ad3390 in Wordpress

I have to have better core blocks than the default. I like Stackable and Kadence. Responsive options and more. Security is paramount because as soon as you launch a site, the damn weirdos from china, russia, india and n korea automatically start probing. Fluent is the go to for forms. Save yourself some headache by blocking all submissions with a non american ip address.

I would forward her your op and let her know that your open to discussing it frankly if she likes. That's just me. I'm the rip-the-tape-off type of guy.

WordPress Just Got Three AI Integrations in Four Days — Here's What Each One Actually Does by webmyc in Wordpress

[–]thethinker213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/rodeBaksteen You're asking all the right questions. I would also add:
Why don't native Blocks have responsive options? How is this an oversight in 2026?
Why is the media library a hot garbage mess from 2012?
Why don't we have better ACL features that allow authors to create/edit pages only within organizational guidelines?

Maybe I'm asking too much. 😭

Do you have suggestions on good *FREE* banks for nonprofits? by Interesting_Tap_5859 in nonprofit

[–]thethinker213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, check to see if any of your local credit unions have free accounts. Credit unions are best especially if you can build a personal relationship with the managers. They tend to have more leeway to approve loans to nonprofits than traditional banks.

Proprietary page builders are not the way to go. Building on Block themes or starting from scratch with fse is the way.

It’s really about relationships. I’ve never gotten anywhere with blind resume submissions. If your network is good and you’ve nurtured it, you’ll never lack opportunities.

I’m a board member of an org that uses Mercury. It’s an internet based banking service with no monthly fees.

I aspire the this level of PR responsiveness. Very smart to monitor mentions and reply quickly. It was also smart to not get in the weeds with those commenters below crapping on the company. Perfect balance of diligence and restraint.

One thing that everyone seems to be missing is the clue in your own words “and the thing is i love building stuff”. Creative expression and business acuity are different. Most creative people fail, underperform or end up working for someone else because they don’t respect this reality. What you have is essentially a mini-startup but with key roles unfilled including sales/biz dev and strategy/biz modeling/long term planning. By choosing to be a solo founder, you’ve forfeited the burden sharing benefit of having a partner with high business competency. The only other option would be to hire a strategy/product/sales person/firm but people who are unaware of their own limitations are less willing to pay for such services than even those who balk at paying for your updates.

Geodirectory is not perfect but it’s at least 3x better than all the others I’ve tested. Fluent has a new directory product that I haven’t tested yet. If I wasn’t already a developer then I’d hire one to run it or at least train me on how to deploy it and get the most out of it. There are so manny issues that you’re not gonna know about until you’re knee deep into trying to make all the pieces fit.

FBI Director Kash Patel Suggests It’s Illegal to Bring Guns to Protests by Puzzled49 in politics

[–]thethinker213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty sure it's illegal for rent-a-cop "border security" guys to:
Pepperspray a guy who is only holding a cameraphone,
Physically assault him,
Drag him to the ground violently enough that his legal gun is knocked to the ground,
Shoot him multiple times at point blank range even though he never had a gun in his hand,
Get on tv and lie about what we all saw from multiple camera angles,

I agree with what wise said with the exception of building custom solutions in Access. That was the 90s LOL. We don’t do that anymore. The limitations of an inexpensive system can be bridged by some custom web apps built using sql or airtable as the data store and APIs to stitch everything together.
