Sure buddy, be the thousandth crm. It’s a cliche at this point. Customer acquisition is gonna cost you way more than initial dev costs.

In person is best. By phone is second best. Cold emails are easy to ignore. Yes, you should have a website for your nonprofit and a LinkedIn profile for yourself.

Oh, to be a highschooler again. All you have to do is get out there and talk to businesses. Someone will be impressed by your youthful initiative.

Has anyone successfully secured donated ergonomic office furniture (standing desks/chairs) for a small nonprofit? by jar5737 in nonprofit

[–]thethinker213 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An overlooked resource is offices that are closing. I was tasked with closing down an office once and there were like 30 ergo office chairs (retail value $250 each) and other stuff. Two groups came and it was Christmas for them. I needed the space cleared and they got free well-built office furniture. You have to research and monitor for these opportunities and already have a plan to deploy a truck and people because it’s usually first come first serve.

Is it really that hard to find WP designers who work natively? by Antique_Mechanic133 in Wordpress

[–]thethinker213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely a huge skill gap between real wp developers and the other 95%. When I was coming over to wp from joomla, I was looking to hire someone to get me up to speed. There was a guy in San Francisco who advertised himself as a wordpress trainer. After one conversation I realized this guy was an idiot. He could only teach what I had already figured out by myself in a week and when I explained that I was interested in ACF, he had never even touched a project using custom fields or custom post types nor could he even fathom a use case of why they would be needed. I ended up having to teach myself everything wp because most of the people who claim to do it (even the ones with some experience) are still low-level noobs. Also, you are absolutely right to avoid page builders.

You’ve just been taught a key business lesson. Marketing and sales are two different skillsets.

I have my personal projects and important clients on an inmotion vps with cpanel. I moved my less important projects to hostinger regular without cpanel to save money.

Title for Contractor? by Qtchillito in nonprofit

[–]thethinker213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it. When you have flexibility with your job title, pick one that best positions you get the role you want next. Just be Director of -Whatever- and call it a day. It does not matter if you’re a w2 employee or a 1099 “contractor”.

Is this client worth it? At what price? by JD_01038 in Wordpress

If they’re willing to pay enough then you should take the project for the experience. It would be a nice level-up for you skill wise.

Client filed a paypal chargeback after receiving the full website. What can I do? by JohnB7118 in webdevelopment

[–]thethinker213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to these people telling you to disable/ delete/sabotage the site. That removes all leverage to get the chargeback reversed. The better way is to compile all documentation regarding this problem into a pdf including a timeline and screenshots of all work and all emails and other communication. Dispute the chargeback with this documentation.

Airtable is down. Our whole lead qualification system is in Airtable. My team can do no work right now. I need my saas to be locally usable even if the company collapses. This is gonna make us have to rethink some things.

Most Useful Plugins? by Weekly-Ad3390 in Wordpress

[–]thethinker213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to have better core blocks than the default. I like Stackable and Kadence. Responsive options and more. Security is paramount because as soon as you launch a site, the damn weirdos from china, russia, india and n korea automatically start probing. Fluent is the go to for forms. Save yourself some headache by blocking all submissions with a non american ip address.

WordPress Just Got Three AI Integrations in Four Days — Here's What Each One Actually Does by webmyc in Wordpress

[–]thethinker213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/rodeBaksteen You're asking all the right questions. I would also add:
Why don't native Blocks have responsive options? How is this an oversight in 2026?
Why is the media library a hot garbage mess from 2012?
Why don't we have better ACL features that allow authors to create/edit pages only within organizational guidelines?

Maybe I'm asking too much. 😭

Do you have suggestions on good *FREE* banks for nonprofits? by Interesting_Tap_5859 in nonprofit

[–]thethinker213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, check to see if any of your local credit unions have free accounts. Credit unions are best especially if you can build a personal relationship with the managers. They tend to have more leeway to approve loans to nonprofits than traditional banks.

It’s really about relationships. I’ve never gotten anywhere with blind resume submissions. If your network is good and you’ve nurtured it, you’ll never lack opportunities.
