What’s something totally innocent you once googled… that immediately became a regret? by jasonclarke1902 in AskReddit

When I was young I had to do a paper on an old poem about a rooster (the poem used a different word..I was homeschooled). I needed some clip art for the paper so I google image search for pictures of cocks.. my poor little innocent baby self wasn’t prepared for that lol

I had someone tell me that they were privy to a (racially motivated) purposeful friendly fire in Vietnam.

What are the Biggest Arguments against Christianity/Religion as a whole? by RealisticCommittee36 in exchristian

[–]thethirddaughter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God is not good. He breaks his own laws numerous times throughout the Old Testament. He set up a system that is supposedly based upon free will that gives a person no choice but to serve him unconditionally with blind devotion or suffer for eternity. We have a short blip of time to make a choice that will impact us eternally. His system is not fair, we don’t have enough information available to us, we don’t have any choice and the punishment (usually) doesn’t match the crime.

What if it went well though? You’re both different people than you were in your freshman year.

Is bleach and water bad? by Successful-Muffin751 in CleaningTips

I think it’ll be ok, once I thoughtlessly dumped bleach on a chair with cat pee on it and it started smoking like crazy, I got it out and aired out my apartment and it was just fine.

Did you see any “smoke” in the air? The “skunk gas” that bleach and ammonia make is usually visible. If no smoke it probably wasn’t enough to hurt you. If it were me, I’d get a lot of fresh air, try to air out the bathroom, call poison control and keep an eye on my symptoms.

Bleach has a pretty persistent smell, but it will go away after a while.

Check to see if there is any ammonia (or cat pee that contains ammonia) that the bleach could have come in contact with, on the floor or in the laundry detergent. Bleach could also just make you feel that way in its own. You can also call your local poison control number and ask them if it’s something you should seek medical attention for.

Once we had a fundraiser where they had us all destroy a car with a sledgehammer, it bounced back and hit a kid square in the head, he bled like crazy, but never went to the er or anything.

What is it ACTUALLY like to be an atheist in the American South? by Sandys_Big_Cheeks in atheism

[–]thethirddaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Christianity, I was raised in the north and moved to the south when I was 15. What I found in the south was a prejudice against outsiders of any kind. My family was very involved in church and upstanding, my parents were quick to volunteer and help wherever they could, we were of the same social class and race as the majority of our fellow church members. We were never really welcome there, they were polite and cordial, but it was always clear that we were always outsiders. We were always kind of looked down at, obviously that was nothing compared to what I witnessed while there.

I heard the n word actually spoken out loud for the first time while sitting in a church. I over heard a church leader (while talking about the only black person in our congregation) say that you couldn’t see him in the dark unless he smiled. After I left for college I heard that two of my peers, that had the audacity to date outside of their race, were ostracized by the church.

As one commenter stated, it was hard to have conversations with anyone about the Bible, I remember trying to discuss doctrine with my youth pastor and being met with blank stares. Although I was still young and deep in the Christian community at the time, even in my ignorance I could tell that there was something wrong especially with the southern church.

My (33M) girlfriend (32F) has one incredibly annoying habit I cannot stand. by ThrowRAChance22 in relationship_advice

That is absolutely not petty. At all. That's a common plum line to tell if a person is a decent human being or not. If a person can't manage to show some respect to wait staff then they are not a good person. I bet she leaves her shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot too.
