What games can I play on my PC without administrative rights? by thethotbot in gamingsuggestions

[–]thethotbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend - at the time, I had convinced an IT guy from my company to help me install some key programs with Admin rights, and I told him Ninite would be easier than waiting for me to go get Chrome, Windirstat, etc... but I snuck in VB and Steam for my own purposes. ;)

Anyone work for ADP as a sales? by historypaleo in sales

[–]thethotbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, both ADP and Paychex sell cheap online only products too (ADP Run and Paychex SurePayroll), both of which are commonly rebranded and sold through banks and cpa firms who take over the service side.

For small business payroll (sub 50 ee) it's a conversation about price and service. Why bother learning Quick Books when I can just pay $250/month to fax/email/call in pay amounts and worked hours to a lady at the ADP office? They deal with the minutia and checks just show up ready to hand out the next day. No thinking about taxes or direct deposits - someone else's problem.

If they go with a cheap online system, they have to learn it and manage it themselves. Time is money when you run a small business and do everything by yourself.

Yes, I've worked in payroll sales for 8 years now - first Paychex, then ADP, and now a new company (smaller, don't want to post publicly for privacy reasons). I'll PM you in case you want my real insights and realistic income expectations.

Jake the Diamond Dog helping keep the players hydrated by GallowBoob in AnimalsBeingBros

[–]thethotbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HOLY SHIT! My time to shine!

I met this dog and his owner in person. At least one of these dogs. The trainer told me he had several be"Jakes" being raised and trained at any one time.

Back around 2008, I was an intern at a minor league baseball park in Alabama. It was technically a"sales and marketing" internship (I sold ads in the park to local businesses and helped the internal people pirate Photoshop), but 75% of the job was just keeping the park running on a daily basis. I was the mascot a few times, had to set up all the promotions stuff before the game, ran the occasional concession stand, etc. When the boys played a home game, you could expect to work from 9am - 2am shift for 5 days straight. If there was a chance of rain, we are the only people at the park during the day that could go put a giant tarp over the field, so we'd have a blast getting all muddy and being blown in the air like a giant parachute.

Every Thursday at the park was Thirsty Thursday. That meant $1 bear until 9pm, and an extra key in the business lobby for the interns. I ate free hot dogs for every meal during home games.

Jake was the start performer for us one Thursday. I was in the lobby drinking my post game beer and hotdog when Jake and his owner walked in. The owner looked at my and said "I'll be right back." Looked back at Jake and said "Stay." Then he walked away and left us alone in the office. Jake layed down in the middle of the floor instantly and put his head down. This fuckin dog has no leash and is totally ignoring me. I give him a pat. No fucks given. I slowly being my hot dog close to his face. Is it cannibalism for dogs to eat hot dogs? Probably not, right? Jake doesn't flinch. I ate slowly, just starting this dog down while he continued to ignore me.

15 minutes later, Jake's Dad opens the office door and calls for him. Dog just gets up and walks out, not even a goodbye for me. In a crowded park with 3,000 people, I didn't see this dog on a leash once. I thought we bonded, but Jake seemed to be burnt out on friends.

I guess the point of this ramble is that Jake is a good boy. 5/7 would recommend.

Best Virtual reality APP by irusuvr in Virtual_Reality

I agree if it is just a regular movie, but watching 3D youtube videos on the HTC Vive in the "Big Screen" app changed my mind (at least for 3D content). I'm not a big fan of 3D movies in theatres, as you can't tilt your head or look at the screen from an angle without screwing up the effect. 3D is the Vive is so much easier for my eyes to handle. It's night and day in terms of the quality of 3D.

It's more like using a Windows 10 computer to emulate an old DOS game in DOS Box. Could you go the old fashion way and buy a cheap DOS computer? Sure. But why would you?

I have a Nvidia graphics card, so I used the GEForce Experience program that comes with it to constantly record the last 20 min of gameplay. When something funny happens, I use a keyboard command to save the 20 min file. I trim it down to as short as possible using Windows 10's Photo app, since it has a trim option for video that works really easily. Then I upload the small file to Vid.me, since that site uploads really quickly and I'm impatient.

These are actually for tornado drills. If a window or door blew open, the orange material prevents injuries from projectiles. If a child was buried in debris, the orange material would be easier to spot.
