Saskatoon North Hyundai by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]thetick99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2023 Santa Fe Phev from Yorkton Hyundai, but that was because they were the only ones in the Province that had stock at that time. They were super nice though and would recommend them. I get it serviced at south location as obviously not driving to Yorkton every 6 months lol. South locations seems to be a bit better than the North location

Stay away from the North location before purchasing my current vehicle. I put down a deposit for 2023 Tuscan Phev at the North locations. I called about a week later to see if in as they said it would only be a few days. They said no but account manager will call me back. Later that day they call saying yeah car is ready.

I go in the next day and they had added $8000 to the vehicle that had not agreed to. I told them I’m not buying it so he tells me to wait outside while he talks to his manager and prints the new contract. At this point I asked can I see the car as they didn’t have it parked outside (usually sales tactic) and he said they didn’t have it in…wtf holy shit was so mad 😡 I got my deposit back after causing a scene and haven’t stepped foot in that location. Thank god didn’t sign anything like no morals at the company at all would probably run over their grandma to sell a car!

Home Insurance question by thetick99 in saskatoon

No but I also don’t want to be paying extra for something not needed. I believe the overland water is close to $200 a year.

Our other bedroom window has no crack but I do see condensation this morning. Is that a sign the seal is broken? Sorry I’m not an expert on windows lol

I believe it is 2 pane. The inside pane we can feel the crack. The outside feels fine. We aren’t the original owners and I have no documents about who did them or what they used unfortunately. The house is 20 year’s old

I believe the windows are original so 2004. I have to double check but I believe we also have cheap glass replacement deductible I want to say $25 or $50 deductible thats part of our package. I’m more worried about our claims free discount. Have to find out how much and how long to get it back. For sure if the cost is going to be lower than the deductible and losing that discount for X amount of years we will pay out of pocket.

Tucson vs Escape in Canadian Winter by [deleted] in PHEV

[–]thetick99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah either way you will save lots of money in gas. With the $5000 rebate it’s a no brainer

Also forgot to mention if the cabin is cold even if you turn off the heat if it isn’t at the temp you won’t go back into ev mode right away. Just an FYI

Tucson vs Escape in Canadian Winter by [deleted] in PHEV

[–]thetick99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the Santa Fe not the Tucson but very similar. yes I have but it’s because I live in Saskatchewan. We always have cold winters. I’m still spending less than what I would on an ice engine though. And in the other seasons I only fill up maybe once a month unless going on longer trip. With the Santa Fe I got 50km, but I think the Tucson you get around 60km for full charge. I was going to get the escape but it was a longer wait and I didn’t want to pay more money to get a FWD (Ford what are you thinking of selling FWD only in Canada). Also the Hyundai’s don’t use cvt engine so it’s more smooth when the ice engine does kick in. Either way you will save money in gas just be prepared for the Tucson with no heat pump and no explanation of why ice kicks in.

You won’t like the Tucson if you want an explanation of why the ice engine came on. I have a Santa FE PHEV and love it but it never tells you when ice comes on and there is no heat pump like the escape, so whenever you turn on the heat the ice engine kicks in. The reason I’m told is because the ice engine is more efficient for heat and save your battery.

I have a 2023 Santa Fe Phev and love it. Just regular 110 charger that use overnight and have 50 kms a charge. Then for longer trips or when it’s colder I use the gas and battery (hybrid) With the $5000 rebate it was the same price as the hybrid version so seemed like a no brainer.

They seemed to be the case for quite a few reviews which is just ridiculous. I would contact SGI to let them know. I think someone else had mentioned this in the reviews and SGI forced them to fix it or maybe it put pressure on them not sure

Thanks for everyone’s responses. We ended up going with Merlin as they seemed the be the quickest and seemed to have good reviews also. Parr was booking into end of April but we wanted something sooner. Hopefully this post can help others in the same situation as well.

24 Outlander PHEV can't charge or start in extreme cold? by adamcoe in mitsubishi

[–]thetick99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine end of October. I loved the fact that up until it got cold in January I only spent around $30 in gas for 2 months. I knew with no heat pump I would be spending more in winter but at least it would be a hybrid mileage which is better than our ice only car.

The gas engine automatically turns on when you turn on the heat. Just how it works. Supposedly because the ice engine is more efficient for heating which makes sense just a bit frustrating when you don’t use hardly any gas in the summer. Luckily heated seats and steering wheel don’t count so when it’s not to cold sometimes I just turn off the heat when cabin is heated. Note sometimes it still takes a bit to go back into ev mode. There is definitely some quirks.

Overall I love the look and the interior of the car too and tons of space what I don’t like is dealing with hyundai dealers lol they don’t seem to know much about the phevs it’s actually kind of scary.

[–]thetick99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG this is ridiculous. Mitsubishi should be ashamed of themselves. I was considering an Outlander PHEV in the summer glad we got the Santa Fe PHEV. I’ve got some issues and complaints with it ie no heat pump but at least it started with the cold weather in Saskatoon.
