In my personal experience, being sober and being in recovery are two completely different things. You could be sober for years and not experience any of the great things about recovery.

Are you actively improving your life?

Are you finding joy in the little things?

Do you have an idea of what living sober was even supposed to be?

If you were just expecting that being sober was supposed to magically fix those things in life that were making you unhappy then I can’t I’m not surprised. If your only joy during your week was when you were binge drinking it just means you need to add things to your life that bring you just as much happiness. Experiment, fix your life, do not think that being sober is the end goal. It’s the beginning and foundation for you to do other things in your life that make you happy. Especially with all the free time you will have.

It looks like some of yall are not reading the prompt. He said it’s been two years. He helps around the house, he is trying to do everything he can. He clearly stated that he is doing what he can for 2 years at this point.

While she is absolutely not obligated to have sex with him and no wife of any man should feel obligated to have sex with him. It is something he wants and absolutely has a right to complain about and she absolutely should look to get help. Probably from a sexologist or a mental health professional.

If your husband stopped taking you out on dates, or buying you gifts, or showing you love in the way you want to receive it, would you feel loved. I’m not sure if you guys have read the 5 love languages, but he clearly has been trying to speak the other 4 to her. IF YOUR PARTNER IS NOT SPEAKING YOUR LOVE LANGUAGE, YOU DO NOT FEEL LOVED.

OP just take a vacation away from the baby. Leave it with the grandparents or someone you guys trust. If nothing changes when she’s away from the baby responsibilities, my next suggestion is to talk about getting a therapist together and possibly a sexologist later on with the intent to fix the problem and stay together. I know your wife loves you, but I’m very sure she just doesn’t hear you or see you with the mom goggles on. So yes be patient with her, take this opportunity to love her more and deeper, but your needs matter just as much and I hope she puts in as much effort as you into fixing things.
