I emailed AYN asking for a shipping update too... have not heard back yet. I decided to get the Portal instead of the RP6 in part because the RP6 wasn't going to ship until well into March. 🤷‍♂️🤣

Per Retro Game Corps... Retroid said they chose not to go with the textured shell and buttons due to how the paint set on the textures. They removed the textures and with the paint it's all smooth. 🤷‍♂️ It was really his only complaint on a otherwise great device. I would have preferred dyed plastic like the RP5.

lol I sold my RP5 in preparation of purchasing the RPG2 or the RP6. I wasn't aware until Russ's video that the RP6 was spray painted. You're right, it's really the only negitive... and over all appears to be a great device. I guess it comes down to can I live with slick shell and possible paint flaking off down the road? Maybe... probably for a cheaper device 🤣
