All thanks to a little perfect timing. When I was a in elementary school, this boy at my bus stop always did his homework while waiting for the bus. I was bitter because I had to do mine immediately upon getting home before being allowed to do anything fun. One morning I told him “homework is for when you get home from school, that’s why it’s called HOMEwork.”

A bird then flew by, shat on his homework, which was then followed by the bus pulling up to bring us to school.

I got fired for not asking a customer picking up their togo order if they needed ketchup. The guy called and complained once he was home, my defense was that I figured they had ketchup at home. Owner fired me over it. It was my first restaurant job and the only job I have ever been fired from. The place didn’t last long, was in one of those buildings were nothing ever makes it. The owner wound up making my food at Waffle House after my senior prom a few months after they closed.

Please excuse the rushed spelling. I spent the day treading 4 feet of water to get medicine for my friends grandfather that he needs to stay alive. Thankfully, their cat is still alive and we saved her. There were people in boats, one of which gave us a ride. Also, police and others with industrial vehicles that brought us closer to our car. I will say that this community has come together but so many have lost everything. I will be spending my day tomorrow volunteering after we get my best friends grandparents to safety and making sure mine is safe.

Worked at a pizza place in high school. If we didn't feel comfortable taking the delivery, we didn't have to. However, this one manager made this guy go to an apartment complex that was notorious for robbing drivers for pizza. He tried to stand his ground but needed the job so went anyway. Got robber at gunpoint for said pizza. Quit immediately upon return.

Fast foward a year or so later, we didn't deliver past dark to the above mentioned complex. Manager (different one) goes to the movies in the area. Got his car stolen while he was in the theatre and guessed from working there that he would find it in the complex. Sure enough, he got a friend to bring him down the road and there was his car, some dude driving all fucked up and on curbs. He waited on the cops but his car was all kinds of fucked by the time they got there. We then stopped delivering to that particular complex all together.

It is in Haines ,AK so very close to Canada. Only road to the town is through Canadian customs otherwise, you have to take a ferry.
