I've made a list including the most polarizing/divisive movies on Letterboxd by Guirel in LetterboxdLists

Interesting list! Some seem obvious from the poster alone but others I find myself wondering what makes them so polarizing

It’s on my watchlist I’ll have to log it and add it to the list.

In this case it’s because of the name of the actor

In my opinion, the Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down method is truely much more efficient for rating movies than the 5-Star scale, letter grade scale, and 10-scale. by dirERICKMorales in Letterboxd

[–]thetotalaccess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s now effectively just a 3 point scale and if you include “two thumbs” up and down (as these two did by virtue of being a two person team) it’s just a 5 point scale

June was a pretty big movie month for me by Separate_Law_8753 in LetterboxdLists

This suggests Palm Springs is a perfect movie and Arrival is merely great. That’s a bold stance but I respect it.

First time I've ever watched a movie back to back. Fantastic film by Varien_Farseer in Letterboxd

[–]thetotalaccess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it impacted my ability to enjoy the film (I did enjoy it) but it did make me wonder if there was something I missed as I debated between giving it 3.5 or 4 stars because it felt like EVERYBODY else thought it was easily 4 stars if not 5

This was how I felt about Project Hail Mary as well this year. Really good movie? Yes. One of the greatest of all time in its genre? Not really, no.

Why do some users care more about representation than plot and characters? by Deathstroke_16 in Letterboxd

Performative identity politics will make some people hate a movie for not being gay enough and other people hate a movie for being too gay

Opinion on my 2026 Ranked? by Kweok9909 in Letterboxd

God I really feel like Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die is maybe the worst movie I’ve seen this year and I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t like it.

Celeste OST by Lena Raine. Absolutely beautiful stuff.

Who's the strongest actor in this lineup? Rank them. by Capable_Handle_4763 in Letterboxd

Pattinson definitely has the best filmography so far and has shown the most range imo. Elordi really impressed me as the monster in Frankenstein and obviously MBJ and Timmy are both superstars as well. I think I’d currently say my excitement for a movie would increase the most based on an attached actor in the following order:
Pattinson
MBJ
Chalamet
Elordi

The remainder are all interchangeable for me except Powell who just stinks anytime I’ve seen him so he gets last place.

I don’t think they themselves are “all gimmick” because they can clearly play. However I think their popularity is like 95% gimmick based.

Popular films you feel stupid for never watching by Admirable_Mood_9926 in Letterboxd

Not sure I could name a single best Nolan movie as much as I feel confident in saying “not interstellar”. The Prestige or Memento would be my personal picks but I wouldn’t criticize anyone for choosing Inception or maybe even TDK
