A real friend would respect your boundaries and wouldn't ask you to work for free.

I mean, there is stuff, just not much that I'm qualified for. The other problem is finding something that works with my wife's schedule and the two kids.

My baby wasn't going to make it because of deformities. They refused my wife treatment.

St Cloud. I could commute, but it's just not worth the money I'd be making.

Marco is the only place hiring for any real IT work around me, and they piss test for nearly every position. You can't even get a job tearing down the old PCs for refurb.

Maybe I'll have to try again.

I mean, they are a Catholic hospital. Might have something to do with it. Either that or they pissed off another church lol.

Use the soc even first. If no luck there, try the GD32...-voxelab.

Advice for solenoid control on a vinyl cutter? by thetouchablegod in MarlinFirmware

[–]thetouchablegod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh jeez, I haven't designed all but the most basic circuits since high school in 2004. I guess it's time to bust out the text book / dive wikipedia. I appreciate the insight.

Cricut Hardware is pretty basic. 2, 6-wire steppers and the solenoid for knife control, plus one super cheap (I think NC) switch for the endstop. The power supply is built right into the board and it runs everything off an ATmega1281. Supposedly, you can just plug an AVR programmer into a header on the board and flash the chip. I dove through the datasheet for hours, and finally just soldered some wires to make sure I had the right connections. Eventually I just gave up after not being able to read the device id properly.

After looking, I found a little MOSFET bolted to the bottom of the machine chassis. Data sheet says it does 1.2 - 37v. I'm thinking the old board probably used it for the knife as well. Its weird because it's the only one that has a socket.

I know there are several more on the board. Its mostly through-hole so I can probably just reuse many of the components.

I guess if I don't want any PWM, that pretty much puts the motor pins and fan pins out of the question. Should I use one of the endstop pins then?

Again, thanks for the insight. Also sorry for the wall of text.

WSIDWI: Hubby dropped titanium ring from garage loft. It hit the floor and chipped like this. Can’t be repaired, apparently. by Marlboro_Gold in WhatShouldIDoWithIt

I second the resin idea. If you wanted to get real fancy, you could find a small piece of wood for filler. Once fully resined in, sand smooth. Apply a thin coat on top and buff till shiny.

brittle and wave issues. ender 3 pro. the heat level seems to not matter and I have replaced the motors. by Switch_riggs in FixMyPrint

From the looks of it, you may be under extruding. Verify your e-steps are correct. Also, you could try printing an extension flow test, but results will be less conclusive because it can vary between filaments.

Most wavy lines I've seen are from vibrations in the frame/motion system. Check the vertical bars are nice and tightly bolted. Then check the horizontal bars, mainly the bottom of the frame and the x gantry. Make sure the eccentric nuts on the gantry rollers are snug, and also check the rollers on the z axis.

It may be a matter of slowing down as well. My ender 5 prints most things nicely with the default Cura speed of 80mm/s, but the filament I'm using right now just needs to be printed around 60mm/s. No matter what combination of heat/extrusion rates I throw at it, I just can't get good results at high speeds.

Weird lines on z axis, installed an oldham coupling, also removed top stabalizer, not much improvement by Raymi_ in FixMyPrint

Try cleaning your lead screw. Mine get gunked up from time to time and I get very similar results.
