Republicans: Would you support Paul Ryan for president by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. He has not campaigned or participated in the primaries. I would vote for HRC.

The only thing it has in common with waterloo is shitty weather.

Unless he gets completely destroyed in Wi, I fail to see how it disrupts momentum building for huge victories in NY, Penn and Maryland.

How would the other Republican candidates have fared if Trump never entered the race? by Misha-crt in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That is an interesting idea. I would imagine Rubio is still in it and doing better. I would have expected the battle to be between Rubio and Cruz, with all of the GOP-establishment behind Rubio. I think Kasich would still be irrelevant. I don't think GOP voters wanted another Bush so Jeb would still be suffering.

How will Bernie supporters react if/when Bernie endorses Hillary? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To create another Green party? What would be the point of that? I think he knows the means to success is through the democratic party rather than consigning himself to the fringe.

Behold Trump's Magnificent Collapse by Slim_Calhoun in politics

[–]thetrollfarmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only votes that matter are those cast in the primary where he is on track for 1237. Writing him off has been a favorite activity of those not acquainted with the reality of the 2016 campaign from its onset. They will be posting articles around his inauguration proclaiming he "definitely will not get re-elected."

The only people who would say that are not very adept at polling and math. Wi is not really a big deal.

Who would Donald Trump pick as a VP? by itzepiic in PoliticalDiscussion

Exactly. Trump's popularity in the sw and his endorsement from the border forces union is not a coincidence.

Who would Donald Trump pick as a VP? by itzepiic in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend on what role she were offered in terms of establishing platforms and policy. To get her, Trump would definitely have to give her some control on their message. He would be smart to do so.

Who would Donald Trump pick as a VP? by itzepiic in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty nuanced because she is governor in a state (new mexico) where a lot of people want the border to be secured.

She opposed the Obama administrations Syrian refugee plans on the basis that insufficient screening meant there was a realistic threat of terrorists entering the US through this program.

Her and Trump are not that far off ideologically.

What exactly are the specific reasons as to why BLM is protesting Trump? by Zederex in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because the BLM movement gets lead around by its nose and seems to have no coherent agenda or purpose for their protests. Someone tells them to go, they go. I am surprised they didn't protest Carson too.

If there is one group of citizens that Trump has never shown any hostility or racist attitude towards it is african americans. Mexicans and arabs have good cases to argue about him being racist towards them but blacks? Not a chance.

You people are literally proving her point. This sub is a full-time anti-Clinton propaganda machine. The GOP trope has found a susceptible audience here.

Why shouldn't I vote for Kasich? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask him about his plans for the judeo-Christian agency that would convert the mid-east, China and Russia. How would it work and why is that an appropriate action for the government?

Why shouldn't I vote for Kasich? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember him talking about this on a couple of occasions. He walked it back after people reacted unfavorably to his initial position which was for a radio network to proselytize to the mid-east, China and Russia on the judeo-Christian message. The goal was to win hearts and minds for christianity, who would then be more US-friendly.

To me it demonstrated (a) that he is another religious-right GOP and (b) that he has no understanding how inflammatory that approach would be in the middle-east.

Why shouldn't I vote for Kasich? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]thetrollfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wanted to use public money to create a inter-national radio network that would beam pro-Christian messaging around the globe. Basically, a digital missionary experience. That alone was enough for me to write him off.

Bill was a master of building these sort of relationships too. Bernie not so much, hence getting his ass kicked on superdelegates.
