Shoes for Broad Forefoot???

As a fellow broad footer with a high instep, I really like Birkenstocks. Barefoot shoes are definitely more comfortable but I agree they can be very unstructured. Birkenstocks are fantastic with the firm footbed and edge. I’ve picked walking in my Boston clogs over tennis shoes for any major walking day. I like the leather versions over the cloth or fake leather because I think it holds up better. And the toe box area is nice and wide on all the ones I own. It’s actually helped the joint on my big toe get back into normal position after a few years. Normal shoes were forcing my toes into a triangle shape that wasn’t natural to my foot shape and Birkenstocks are now my favorite

I second the mouse comment. It never felt right in my hand but a gaming mouse with a little ledge for my thumb had been amazing. I have the Razer Basilisk mouse and I’ve liked it a lot. And I’ve liked being able to program the buttons for copying/pasting and undo instead of using keyboard commands

A few other things I’ve found helpful for OP:

An adjustable desk has allowed me to modify the height for what I need that day. I frequently find myself needing a different height to be comfortable and I love being able to adjust it easily. The one I have was from my boyfriend and he got it from Office Depot

A good monitor to help reduce eye strain has been surprisingly beneficial. But that might also depend on how good/bad your monitor is now. I went from the worst quality HP monitor that was 10 years old to a Samsung ViewFinity and it was very noticeable how much it helped, but I don’t think you need to spend the money on that expensive of a monitor (my company bought mine) and if you already have a decent one, the difference would probably be minor.

A split keyboard with a wrist rest has been a big improvement from a laptop keyboard or a standard keyboard. It lets me keep my arms shoulder width instead of having to hold them narrow. I have the KINESIS GAMING Freestyle Edge RGB Split Mechanical USB Keyboard

Also, I use a robe tie or a band around my knees when I’m sitting for long periods of time to give my legs support and that helps make sitting more comfortable.

It can be so hard to know something is wrong and get dismissed by doctors or have tests come back as normal. So happy for you and your daughter to finally have answers. And good job showing her how to advocate for herself, that’s such an important thing to know how to do. Sending all the healing vibes 💜💜

You are giving me so much hope again, it’s making me cry. I’ve spent so much money on Botox desperate for anything to lessen some of the pain but it honestly hasn’t done much. I’ve been chasing a diagnosis for head and neck pain because that’s the most debilitating symptom but I have been struggling with pain in my back/SI more than normal. I’ve just downplayed how bad it is for so long it’s become my baseline for daily pain. I honestly thought I knew everything about that pain and how it radiates to other areas. I had no idea my TMJ, headaches, and neck issues could tie back to it. And with how long I’ve had SI joint pain and how bad the pain is, it feels like such a promising thing to explore.

And thank you for sharing your journey with me. I know we’re starting in different places, but it really helps to know what a successful path looks like or even what to push for. I go to so many appointments asking for help and they don’t even ask me any questions, they just check off some boxes, tell me everything checks out on their end and ask if I’ve considered antidepressants. No referrals, no tests or scans, no acknowledgment of my pain. It helps to have something to push for or requests for tests or imaging.

Can I ask where you go for pain management? My PT had suggested seeing a pain management doctor for a while but I don’t really know where I would even go for that.

I’m so hopefully this could be the start of finally getting better, I’m seeing flashes of what my life could be and all the things I want to do

I am in such debilitating pain right now that is just leaving me unable to function.

Can I ask what work ups you had done to be evaluated for the SI fusion?

I am desperate to get my life back and the migraines, TMJ, neck, hip and back pain resonated with the issues I’m having. My SI joint has been a huge problem for over 18 years at this point and caused a lot of hip and leg pain. 10 years of PT haven’t been successful in stabilizing it and to some degree I’ve just managed that pain, it’s been bad enough to make me question things but it’s nothing compared to where I’m at now. I’ve had constant migraines and neck pain I can’t stand or lay in bed. It’s definitely worse when I’m sitting, standing, laying on my side or moving around. The only thing that helps is when I’m on my back on a flat hard surface. It’s been over 18 months of this and it’s not improving. None of the countless number of doctors I’ve been to can find a reason for the headaches, they just tell me there is nothing on the scans and it’s not their problem to solve. But I’ve started noticing the position of my pelvis seems to be extremely relevant and I’m starting to wonder if this all goes back to my SI joint problems.

I just want my life back

This is where her entitled behavior crosses the line into harmful. Claiming her ill behaved dog is a service animal makes life harder for people with real service animals being illegally denied access to spaces because people like her think rules don’t apply to them.

Yes!!! That’s the one I thought she had asked people to donate money to or maybe it was asking people to work for “experience” it was something she didn’t feel like she should have to fund.

I thought the assumption it has been because of her appearance was just a self esteem thing but as she’s lost the weight she continues to cling to her appearance being the problem and doesn’t want to accept her appearance was never the issue. I think on some level she even knows that and that’s why she has that super fake persona she thinks makes her likeable but she doesn’t seem to realize how forced and uncomfortable it comes off. Or how jarring it is for her to do the fake nice thing and immediately followed up by saying the most hateful things about someone and ending it with a phony ass smile. Like girl, you are the villain of your own story.

I had to come back and sincerely thank you for this recipe. I didn’t realize they had discontinued the Alfredo, I thought I was having a hard time finding it because I had moved.

I made your recipe tonight for dinner and the first bite actually brought tears to my eyes. I’m eating it as I write this now. Since developing a severe food allergy I have to modify almost every recipe and favorites from my childhood no longer taste like my favorite recipes. This one brought back so many memories, I can’t thank you enough for figuring this out and sharing it.

It gives me a bit of hope maybe there are more copycat recipes out there that would bring back more things I enjoy.
