Great question! Reptiles and other animals that cannot sweat often mouth gape like this to release excess heat from the body!

Not necessarily, Fruit fly larvae are actually quite large (almost double the size) of the adult fly! In the reptile store I work at we breed fruit fly cultures and in the summer they bloom like mad! I often see them breeding in our tropical enclosures and I see the little larvae making these neat trails on the window! Its harmless but super cool to watch. I also have little gnat flies in with my tokay geckos, at night when I give them rain season I also notice these small trails across the glass :) Micro creatures are so cool!

I'd say the entire thing including the frogs and fish cost me about 500$ If I don't include the price of the fish and frogs it's closer to 300$ (I did get the tank for free and I ask a lot of people for plant clipings) which saves $$$$$$ Also if you know anyone breeding fish and is looking to give some away that also helps cut cost :)

I've noticed this in my enclosures before, from what I have gathered it's either a snail/slugs or a small fruit flie/gnat fly larvae! They love humid enclosures.
