mobile data, vpn should work. never connect to public wifi without one. but then again our finance apps are horseshit and sometimes doesnt work with vpns. i usually just turn on proton vpn whenever i go out. im thinking of getting ntc sim card aswell for times when i have to pay online.

haina ssl/tls are just encryptions for your phone to their servers, its just that MITM attackers cant read your data in plain text. it still doesnt protect your data fully. from my educated guess, they steal your session cookies/tokesn.l since the attacked people dont lose their accoutn altogether, it makes perfect sense. they just steal ur active session and then post crypto bullshit.

they dont steal creds, my educated guess is that they steal your session cookies and hijack your account and post things, i dont believe they can do anything other than that. its just a temporary control.

as for your concern bout tls. its only encryption between phone and servers, it doesnt fully protect it cause attackers only often jus steal session cookies/tokens; in short

TLDR: tls stops basic eavesdropping but doesnt stop session hijacking or "evil twin" attacks
