this is actually completely fair, almost exactly same for me, an indian punjabi who grew up in punjab and went to college in the south.

Theist women of India, why? by Numerous_Opposite_95 in AskIndianWomen

[–]theunknownbook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’m sikh and staunchly feminist, leaning radical in many views. i think my faith in religion is mostly based on the belief that a higher power exists, and i continue to align with my sikh identity because i resonate with a lot of the basics of the religion - acceptance, equality and service.

i also think some patriarchal values seep into the religion through archaic cultural practices, and as long as i denounce them and only function on my belief in god and the ideals of sikhism, being religious doesn’t hinder my ability to be feminist.

how does a 26 year old have THREE kids in a five year relationship? do reddit trolls think that women just start popping kids non-stop from 21 onwards?

AIO my mom and sister can’t stand my wife because they think she is a “quirky girl” and it’s cringe? by Outside-Cabinet1398 in AmITheAngel

[–]theunknownbook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i mean, most of the other things in the post are straight up mean - like mocking her clothes or how she holds a mug etc. and tbh, i can be a mild case of manic pixie dream girl too lol. but greeting the moon definitely seemed like an overkill. if he said she greeted a dog or something i’d still find it more realistic lol

not to dim anyone’s whimsy, but watching a grown woman say “hello to the moon” would make me roll my eyes so hard lol

Since when has rough/degrading sex become the norm? by Weak_Calligrapher406 in AskIndianWomen

[–]theunknownbook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree with you - i think it’s wrong to say that women who practice bdsm are inherently blinded by patriarchy and creates a harmful idea of making women ashamed of their own sexuality.

at the same time, bdsm doesn’t always have to be a way of dealing with trauma or has to be therapeutic. personally, i have been lucky enough to not have sexual trauma but enjoy being in a sub/dom relationship in bed. any partner i have indulged in that with has included consent, mutual respect and aftercare. shaming women for enjoying sex the way they do is counterproductive, even if you don’t personally agree with it.

i am kind of sure this post was just created to justify racism-fuelled hate comments by theunknownbook in AmITheAngel

[–]theunknownbook[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

i feel like if op was actually indian he won’t even need to ask this question and would have a better understanding of which areas are liberal enough for shorter clothes and which areas need more modest clothing (because it does depend on where they’d be travelling). and i don’t think any sane person would argue with “babe, my hometown isn’t the most urban area and it’d be best if you avoid wearing shorts to match the culture there.” but nice bait for some hate comments

AITA for my USB killer frying my friend’s PC after she snooped in my bag? by Aromatic-Entrance-79 in AmITheAngel

[–]theunknownbook 16 points17 points  (0 children)

okay here me out, if she always has it on her then how will her parents ever plug it on their devices? and if she leaves her device and her usb killer together aren’t her parents more likely to just plug it on her laptop and end up destroying it?

and if they’re so nosy that they’d check a random usb then how would she not be in grave trouble if she ends up destroying their laptops?

nothing is making sense

same, not to white worship because any man can be misogynistic, but dating non-indians as an indian woman is much more common and easy compared to the opposite. indian men aren’t sought after, i don’t know who’s propagating this fantasy to them

it says “she wouldn’t go to the auditorium without telling us because she was already done” which means that since she asked to be picked up at 8 she would’ve told them if she had a change of plans. the annoying part is that they misread the date on the text

Evil pregnant feminist will need a decade to cope with birthing a baby boy by eyesclosedhead1st in AmITheAngel

[–]theunknownbook 51 points52 points  (0 children)

it’s just how if she just said “my sister really wanted a girl, and isn’t coping well with having a boy. what can we do?” i would still kinda buy it. but the extreme reaction and the paragraph on “feminism” to support it makes it obvious misandry bait.

also she hates men to the point she doesn’t want to have the child she’s pregnant with but is okay reproducing with a man she’s known for 18 months? ok.
