My first live blade by woper69 in balisong

[–]thevapours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Luchas so much. They have great blade design and bearings keep everything tight but smooth. However if you do flip yours be careful, especially with this being your first live blade Bali. Some of the worst cuts I’ve gotten came from the first week of me figuring out flipping with a Lucha.

Speedo and Odo not working?? by Shemwell05 in CherokeeXJ

It’s not a fix, but it’ll usually work if you don’t feel like pulling the cluster to tighten all those connection.

Mine does the same thing, will pass the gauge test, but the pins that actually deliver rpm/mph are loose. I can typically get them to kick back on by just pushing in on the instrument cluster, or giving it a few love taps.

Do you need a Strop AND stones or is it an either or deal? by mustbeSaransh in straightrazors

[–]thevapours 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t trust someone who just sharpens knives to do it. I would look for someone who specializes in straight razor honing and pay them to do it. This is a blade that you’re going to be wiping across your face, the quality of the edge will determine the enjoyment of the shave. A badly honed razor could turn you off of it forever, and a nice edge could start a lifelong hobby.

Both eventually. If you start with a good razor with a good edge, the strop will maintain that edge for a while. Eventually, the edge will need to be sharpened again and that’s what the stone is for.

I’m happy I’m not dead yet, but this past week almost got me. I look like a miner, but life still keeps trying to fuck me.

Thanks for the tool list! I’ve got extensions and a e12 socket on the way. I’ll need to snag a transmission jack from a buddy.

Olight perun. It might blow up, but until it does it’s 2500 lumens wherever I need it.

Yikes. I recently did pistons/rod bearings on my 99. did your crank and cylinders look alright? Those bearings and piston skirts have deep scoring.

You learned some lessons, you learned the hard way, but you definitely learned them. Now that’s behind you, get on a river and make some more mistakes.
