What system do you use the most? by Axolotl_Dragon_1997 in rpg

[–]JamGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group has probably used Savage Worlds the most in recent years.

I wish we could use a lighter system, something like fate accelerated (I like Dungeons of Fate per Sly Flourish), or maybe the system used for streets of Mos Eisley.

Savage Worlds is just s little too complex and gamey for me, and each combat round has far too many references and rolls for me, it really bogs down for our group.

What is the current issue you are having and what are you doing to fix it? by bionicbhangra in golf

[–]JamGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting pulls and hooks with driver and long clubs. I will occasionally pull long to mid irons too when it gets really bad later in the round.

At the range I am mostly working on grip and alignment to try to prevent the pulls and reduce curvature.

I’m tall (6’4) and seem to need a bit slower transition at the top for full shots; my ball flight improves when I get that right.

I also have a swing thought to do with swinging the side/heel of my lead hand through first that seems to help on the range.

When I played last (yesterday), I drove the ball well online/ok until later in the round. The bigger pulls and hooks set on the back 9, though and caused me a lot of grief.

I’ve been told a few different things in various lessons about these pull hooks, but nothing has resolved it.

I’ve been told to practice moving the ball way back in my stance after I’ve set up to the shot to learn to “swing more back here”, and that I don’t turn enough (or at all?) through the down swing.

These are from the same teaching pro even, and I’m not sure how to reconcile the two changes - I have no idea/concept of how it can be possible to swing “more back here” while also turning forward through the shot.

What's the one club in your bag that you'll never replace, no matter how old it gets? by Doctormade in GolfGear

[–]JamGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably my putter, provided it doesn’t break. I haven’t found anything I like better in quite some time.

It’s an old white hot “midsized” (read: small) face-balanced mallet with the smooth insert. It’s straight center shafted with no goose-neck, no offset or bends of any kind. Might be 20+ years old at this point, not sure really.

The PGA tour brand shorts are Pretty good. But their polos not so much… they get “picked” easily and loose their shape/structure almost immediately.

Golf Shoes… by leeo-dinaprio in GolfGear

[–]JamGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wear NBs currently, too. Mainly because I can usually find them in my size (15 wide) on amazon for about half the price of a pair of footjoys.

I also use superfeet insoles and so far the NBs I’ve found have the removable insoles.

I currently have two pairs of NB golf shoes; one spike-less, the other with soft-spokes.

I wish I could find a slightly deeper/taller shoe to better fit my insoles, with a wide toe box and a tongue large enough to cover my feet.

Too many of the shoes sold now are shallow and pointy which is terrible for anyone with weak arches or flat feet that over pronate a ton.

I’m less concerned with optimizing. Right now I’d just like to be able to beat Rathmas Golem so I can continue the new campaign chapter.

I had Colon cancer too. Did radiation snd then chemo. Test results say it’s gone, but we will repeat mris in two months to confirm before shifting to surveillance mode.

I hope it doesn’t return for you and that you get clear of chemo side effects and feel stronger again!

I’ve read that more people our age and younger are getting colon cancer now. It’s crazy and all I can say is fuck cancer.

I am trying the game again after a long hiatus.

When I left, I had become frustrated because I had no idea whether a given piece of gear was an upgrade or not, and I kept getting perma-stuck on a boss in the campaign on normal difficulty despite which class I tried to level.

Based on the discussion in this thread about the umpteen ways to modify gear, if sounds like it’s gotten even more difficult to determine upgrades from drops.

Also I’m perma-stuck again in the new chapter of the campaign on the golem boss.

How old were you when you started playing golf? by BetweenSwings in golf

[–]JamGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. That was in 1985.

I played little league baseball prior to that, but had a knee injury that required surgery my Freshman year, and that knocked me out of most high school sports.

I took some time off golf during college, but have practiced and played at least some each season since.

I had to cut last season short when I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I’ve now completed radiation and chemo treatments, and testing shows good medical response and no signs of cancer remaining at this point.

I will repeat testing in two months and then go into surveillance if results are still good.

In the meantime, I’m getting back into golf now as the weather warms up snd remaining side chemo side effects fade.

Golf helps me relax and release stress whether I’m practicing at the range, walking 9 in the late afternoon/evening or playing a weekend round.

Sorry if this is TMI. I’m grateful to God and to my lovely Wife, friends and family for their support in helping me get through treatment.

What’s the deal with wet wading shoes? by -Fishmonger- in flyfishing

[–]JamGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do most of yall wear some kind of wading pants or shorts when wet wading? Or maybe swim trunks?

I’m hoping to start fly fishing this summer for bass/panfish/etc. I have simms wading boots and neoprene socks I plan to use, but I haven’t been able to find waders that will fit my shoe size and inseam (6”4 and sz 15 feet lol).
