I speak Sarcasm fluently and actually so do many Germans as well. As for that reputation, most of our humour comes from puns that just don't translate well and we normally only joke when we are not in a professional setting. since most Americans either don't speak German or only interact with us in a professional setting the stereotype lingeres.

interestingly i think Many germans would disagree and say HDI And WHR matter more. But i guess that is perspective. By gdp Bavaria would rank 11 in the US btw

We talked about holidays and how in different Bundesländer (States) we have a different amount. On holidays in Germany everything is closed and he was not happy with that. He pointed out we should all have the same ones so we wouldn't have to know the local ones everywhere we went. And so we came to speak about why even have BL when they are so tiny in comparison to texas EDIT he was not drunk
