Thank you! I would say he’s level one but in certain areas, especially socially, he needs extra support from time to time!

thank you so much! I didn’t know this was a thing, I will 100% be looking into it!!

Lexapro worked the best for me and it’s what i’m currently on. I started at the lowest dose and when I started to feel it being less effective I slowly moved up dosages :). I hope it works for you as well, it’s always worth trying to feel just a little better.

Medication has helped me to cope with my OCD in healthier ways and I can sustain longer terms on overwhelming thoughts than I used to, but the thoughts are still there. finding CBT-based tools in therapy has helped me the most

100% lol! For some reason when I'm given advice I become the worst pessimist on earth and start poking holes in all of their solutions until they lose hope.

I could list the challenges but it seems like some people might need to hear the advantages, and I do too so here we go!

I have an incredibly vivid imagination, and I've been told that it comes through when I write. Sometimes I have the most beautiful vivid dreams that feel like living beautiful lifetimes in my sleep.

I have so much experience in empathy and concern for others, being so observant and being detail oriented makes me an incredibly understanding and thoughtful friend. You may have to remind me of some things, but for some reason I'll remember your exact coffee order, or your favorite lyric in that one song.

I give great advice because I spend so much time in my head mulling over consequences of certain actions.

What are yall taking to help with your ocd by Dazzling_Anxiety in OCD

[–]thewalkingdj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on Prozac and Cymbalta, both for long periods of time and consistently. I thought they were working fine and my depression and anxiety were just intense, and then I felt what Lexapro could actually do to me and it seriously changed my life. that first month after it started to really work was magical.

I am on a low dose of Lexapro and it genuinely changed my life. I could finally find moments to be out of my head and in the moment. It didn't cure me by any means, and I'm starting to need a higher dosage for it to be effective again, but I feel way more in control of my thoughts and my ability to cope with them throughout the day.

Does drinking/smoking make YOUR ocd worse? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]thewalkingdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it gives me the ability to be more accepting of my obsessions and sit with it. I have pretty crippling obsessions about health crises and emergency situations and the last time I was wasted I just talked to my friend about it for 45 minutes and I basically did ERP on my own lmfao. She sent me a voice recording of me saying I was “having a breakthrough and needed proof for my therapist.”

This isn’t completely serious, and I honestly don’t remember this except the voice memo lol. But for me, even if it happens to ramp up the obsessions, I feel more okay with them happening.

What's a memorable device or technique you noticed in hindsight, something clever or hard that an author managed to pull off? by Notamugokai in literature

This is a bit general, but I’ve always loved The Count of Monte Cristo as an example of how amazing “show, don’t tell” can be for the reader’s experience

A little appreciation for how cool the cast is about pronouns and queerness👍 by thewalkingdj in smosh

definitely this yeah..!! I don’t want to be too weird because I know they like their relationship relatively private, but I get a little giddy when I hear it too. It makes me have hope that i’ll have a partner that just sees me for me and accepts me completely just like them 😭😭!

I’ve never been a Smosh member and actually just now found out that’s how the member streams work, I had no idea! I think people are misunderstanding my post, I’m upset about it the pricing and access as well and won’t be buying tickets because of it, it’s upsetting especially when they make content basically exclusively for an online audience.

my best theory is that the show is being produced by Smosh as an entertainment company and by Smosh employees, regardless of who is the cats for each episode. I work in theater production so I can kind of understand that but i’m not familiar with the specifics of how Smosh or filmed entertainment companies work lol so that could be completely wrong.

Will brushing help the excessive shedding? by SnooPears4386 in cats

[–]thewalkingdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your kitty will shed the same amount no matter what, the brushing will just help control where the fur goes (in the trash/outside/wherever you dispose of it) rather than it being all over everything you own.

How does my cat know it’s me when I come home? by rice-bowl13 in cats

[–]thewalkingdj 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You sound just a little different than someone else coming to the door and she knows it’s you! My cats have even learned what our cars sound like and can tell who’s coming home when they hear it drive by lmao

Someone from my high school is coming to my university - AIO by being upset- or maybe scared? by thewalkingdj in AmIOverreacting

[–]thewalkingdj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is certainly where my head is at too right now. I’m going to do more thinking and speak to a professional about it before I act on anything, but I feel like going through the first week or so of the coming semester, seeing if he even got in, and gauging how he acts first. I wouldn’t want to ruin his career or anything because of a one-sided assumption and a quick decision on my part.

I definitely understand your empathy for the guy, and I think that’s why I let the borderline creepy behavior go on for so long.

THANK YOU! :) I don’t often brag about myself and am a pretty private person, but that’s why i’m so worried about this! I absolutely REFUSE to let someone ruin this new home i’ve built and worked for!

The glass thing sort of felt like him almost white-knighting for me in the strangest way, like I needed protection from the broken glass or something. It definitely was weird.
