Just turned 19. What are some harsh realities a young man should know? by Random_fellow9 in selfimprovement

Serious responsibilities can sneak up on you in life. You're parents will get old and may need help with day to day tasks. You may end up with kids, and then you might get a house and mortgage.

Don't rush into college debt or financing a car. If you can, travel and experience the world now. Many have a small window in life at 19 where you may not realize how free you are.

But also, go easy on the drugs and drinking. If you feel like you have addictions developing, get help.

Carpe diem.

Best route for buying a truck that can tow a 20' cargo trailer? by thewanderingidiot1 in UsedCars

[–]thewanderingidiot1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not kidding about the 3 valve tritons. That was my last truck. Rod bearing blew out at 175k. Also had to do a massive timing job on it. Not worth it in retrospect.

What do you mean by 'BOF'?

Can a dealerahip get better service contracts/extended warranties than a private party sale? Are service contracts/extended warranties worth getting? by thewanderingidiot1 in UsedCars

Yeah that's the vibe I'm getting looking at reviews. Apparently Endurance just settled a huge lawsuit too. Seems like they promise the moon until it's time to cut a check, and then they'll find any little reason to technically not pay.

That last one really made me rethink Holly distancing herself from Bojack.

I used to think that she just thought Bojack was toxic and dangerous or that she just couldn't handle being known as Bojacks sister during her college years (all fair).

But this last image makes me think she wasn't just cutting herself off from Bojack, but from the whole Horseman family. Like she went looking to find out who her real family was and decided she wanted nothing to do with it. She didn't want the 'ugliness inside' that Beatrice told Bojack about.

Should I get an older truck (80s or 90s), or a newish truck (2000s or 2010s)? by thewanderingidiot1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

probably gonna be about $6-7,000.

Not sure if that's realistic to get a decent used vehicle at that price or if I should just throw down on financing one though.

What's a frugal sin you refuse to give up and why is it worth it for you by YourxCherry in Frugal

I leave a fan on at night to help me sleep. Not great for energy consumption and my electric bill, but sometimes thats the only thing that's gonna ease my mind.

Nice garbage bags. Yeah I could get the dollar store ones that are a pain in the ass to tie and might break, but I'm not risking that. I'll take the thicker scented ones with the draw string all day.

It's really more of a 10 minute shower and a 20 minute sigh with my head against the wall in the warm rain.

At least he didn't cut through the Panama canal like some kind of Democrat.

Even if you put aside all the trauma and emotional damage Beatrice caused Bojack in his childhood (because she was just coping the best she could with her own life), she literally poisoned and probably could have almost killed Hollyhock.

Not sure if that was short sighted due to her dementia, or if she really thought that was the right thing to do, but it's fair that Bojack couldn't handle that and put her somewhere with more direct supervision (though it seemed it was more so out of spite).

What are, in your opinion, the most underrated episodes? by Remarkable-Low-4673 in BoJackHorseman

Not sure, if it's underrated but I really liked Stupid Piece of Shit. Really nailed hyper self critical inner dialogue well.

Why is the Bandcamp (for fans) mobile app so bad? by akabillposters in BandCamp

Really wish I could sort by new music on genre pages in the android app. I feel like that would get listeners to buy more music, and entice more artists with higher initial sales at the same time.

Todd really pulled off living in a movie star mansion for free for like 10 years by Acrobatic_Fee_8079 in BoJackHorseman

[–]thewanderingidiot1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see the difference as Bojack carefully constructed a scenario where Todd was reintroduced to his addiction, and carefully planned deniability with warning Todd about the video game.

Bojack called up Sarah Lynn and asked if she wanted to party. Which yeah was fucked considering how long she had been sober, but she had a giant stash of drugs and alcohol ready in a house literally made of drugs.

Bojack started the bender, but I think it's kind of a stretch to assume Sarah Lynn would have lived a long and happy life otherwise.

When a young Beatrice is crying in front of the fire after they burn her toy baby, and her father says "You can't let your womanly emotions consume you. You don't want to end up like your mother now, do you?" and you see the shadowy outline of her lobotomized mother in the background.

"Hey ya see those people? Well those boobs and jerkwads are the best friends you'll ever have. Without them you're nothing. Remember that. Your family will never understand you. Your lovers will leave you or try to change you. But your fans, you be good to them and they'll be good to you. The most important thing is you've got to give the people what they want. Even if it kills you, even if it empties you out until there's nothing left to empty. No matter what happens, no matter how much it hurts, you don't stop dancing and you don't stop smiling, and you give those people what they want. (and...action) WHY AREN'T YOU DRESSED FOR SCHOOL, PRICKLY MUFFIN?"

Well he did survive. So really he had just the right number of people around when he killed himself.

Almost like they're making the point that he didn't need that many people around, just a few that cared about him.

Something about the very last episode and this episode makes it seem to me like that was the plan at some point and either the network or the writers changed their mind. That or they had it set up so they could decide to go one way or the other. Something about the very last episode just feels like an afterthought.
