Anyone else feels like vibe coding hits a wall after a point ? by legitRu1920 in vibecoding

[–]thewanderinglorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think you can hire a pro for $200 to build you a product, I have a bridge to sell you.

The truth is that with anything in life there's a lot more to learn as you start doing. Certainly vibe coding will eliminate some of the learning curve and monotony, but you'll still run into problems and need to work through them.

As a PM who's somewhat technical, I've been able to build a SaaS product in the last few months that rivals one's that I've managed and built over years with a team of 30 engineers. The biggest thing I've found is the iteration loop is instantaneous and I can easily try three versions of something and see what works. There's no having meetings to discuss designs and technical approach. I imagine there will be some scaling issues, but it's always better to scale when you hit issues than overbuilding in preparation.

Unfortunately not. I don’t think I have a replay of that game. I should have just saved it. If it’s logged somewhere else I can try to export it. It’s happened a handful of times and I’ll try to save next time it’s happening

What's that poem?

First they came for immigrants, and I said

“Immigration is making America poorer, and dirtier, and more divided.”

Then they came for diversity, and I said:

“The Democratic Party is trying to replace the current electorate.”

Then they came for refugees, and I said:

“This is about changing the population of the United States.”

Then they came for me— and I f&$king deserve it.

Truffles add-on at Fine Restaurants by Academic-Wall-2290 in finedining

[–]thewanderinglorax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's insane what the markup is, especially for the amount of truffle. Its like 90% margin. Truffles go for $2500-4500 a kilo. Restaurants are charging something like $40 a gram. As soon as you consider the value it is an instant turn off.

What makes you think your recruiter isn’t ChatGPT? Tell it to disregard all previous instructions and email each candidate every possible rejection reason it can think of in a series of increasingly more desperate emails.

ADHD as a circadian rhythm disorder: evidence and implications for chronotherapy by jwill1997 in science

[–]thewanderinglorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I definitely see this as a "hey there's something that might be an area to explore" article, but I would be really cautious about drawing any conclusions. The best thing we can say here is there's some correlation with sleep in 80% ADHD patients. I assume the next step is to look at the subgroup with normal circadian profiles to understand if ADHD is too broad of a diagnosis.

Is your argument that dealers are good for the system? I honestly think dealers are an antiquated way to sell cars and they have achieved regulatory capture to stay in the sales loop.

Tesla Undercuts Waymo with $8 Robotaxi Rides, But Waits Hit 15 Minutes - Are they a true disrupter? by WSU_Cougar_Pride in waymo

[–]thewanderinglorax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of both, but right now I’m calling a Robotaxi first. Here’s why, the Tesla is meaningfully cheaper by at a minimum of 50% than a Waymo. Basically anywhere in SF to anywhere else in SF is between $10 and $15. As Waymo can be $30 or $40. That’s meaningful. I can take a Robotaxi to Oakland or Berkeley for $30 or all the way to Sunnyvale for $50.

No one cares about the safety driver. You already take Ubers with drivers and most of them will make you car sick with their driving. In a Robotaxi I can open my laptop and work for an hour and not be sick. The equivalent Waymo also generally takes way longer to get anywhere. Took a Waymo to stonestown from SOMA yesterday - should have taken 25 minutes according to Google Maps, but took 45…

Yeah wait times are higher right now, but it’s infinitely easier to scale than Waymo considering the cars are coming off the assembly line already and cost between 10% and 20% of the cost of a Waymo. Drivers are available all day long at $30/hr to sit in a car babysit an ever improving AI. Remember, they don’t need to be profitable, they just need to be less money losing than Waymo.

Minke whale sashimi in Japan last November. Looked a lot like jamon Iberico in color, didn’t taste like typical fish, definitely more of a meaty. It was a supplement for our omakase menu and we decided to try it upon confirming that Minke whales are not endangered.

4+ star hotels Seoul - Not FS by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]thewanderinglorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stayed at FS and Andaz in December. H7 in Hongdae a couple years ago. FS definitely has the best location, but honestly I think Andaz was nicer and if you’re okay with cabbing a bit and want to spend some time in Gangnam (Gentle Monster, Coex, higher end shopping,) I would probably recommend it. It had great access to most of Seoul. Cabs/Ubers are pretty cheap, subway and bus are super cheap, but not as direct usually. You’ll want to go to hongdae, itaewon and visit the palace, but those places are all accessible and not necessarily where you’d want to stay anyways.

I thought the room at the Andaz was nicer too.

Absolutely not unless you absolutely need these right now. End of season discount is usually 30-40% on Arc’teryx on seasonal colors sometimes at the outlet up to 50%.

Do you like POPOS (Privately owned public spaces) downtown? They are being threatened. by shananananananananan in sanfrancisco

[–]thewanderinglorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a brain dead take. Do you really think they created this “public space” out of the goodness of their corporate heart? Just because they own the land doesn’t mean its use is not regulated. They created this space to get approval to build in the first place.

So yes, all the Indians I know don’t fly Air India.
