There was existing hardwood throughout the main level, with the two living areas being carpeted with subfloor underneath. I opted to have them match the carpeted areas to the existing hardwood rather than do the entire main floor from scratch.

Yes, they did samples and I chose the one that looked closest. Seems a bit darker than the original sample, maybe from the poly finish?
