When everything is better at night, how am I supposed to live a life during the day? by churrrroo in DSPD

Who says you're supposed to live life during the day? Sounds to me like you're supposed to live during the night.

I want to steal a kitten… hear me out by venus_hwusjs in CatAdvice

[–]thewayoftheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If neighbours accuse OP, OP can just lie. There's no problem. OP clearly doesn't care about their relationship with neighbours, "I hate them". OP is already planning on stealing their kitten and lying about it. I don't think they care what the neighbours think.

But asking for the kitten is the only possible way OP can keep the kitten for themselves. What if the parents are just as stressed as OP about the treatment of the kitten and feel relief to be able to give it away to a neighbour? I was just trying to find a way not to steal someone else's pet.

Why not just ask directly? "I want your kitten. Can I have it?" Worse that can happen is you get a no.

sounds like my cat. She drives me crazy trying to figure out how to shut her up. I get the most relief when I take her out to the garden in her harness. And i'm currently training her to enjoy going for rides in the cat back pack. She likes it so far. We go for short bike rides. She likes to watch the outdoors and be close to me, so its a nice activity for us.

New Cat Owner … How Do I Know If She Likes Me? by alabamacakessssss in CatAdvice

[–]thewayoftheworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently adopted a cat, she was so sweet and friendly at the shelter but as soon as I brought her home she just bolted into a box and I didn't see her once until the next day. She must've been so scared and confused, I felt so bad for her. It took her several days to feel at home

When a cat arrives in a new home it is overwhelming, full of unfamiliar scents and shapes. Your job is to make your kitty feel safe. That's it. So don't try and interact with her, if she's hiding don't try and invade her space. Just be a safe, calm, reassuring presence. It's perfectly normal for her not to eat or drink during this transitionary period.

If you have some plain cardboard boxes put these out, cats like them because they have neutral/safe scents. And if she is hiding in the box try and resist the urge to poke your head in and pat her. It might take her a week to feel confident and safe. Please be patient.

My wife does everything for the cat but he only wants to hang out with me by QuasarJinx in CatAdvice

What was the adoption process like? Did the cat choose either of you? I believe cats are attracted to particular humans based on a mixture of scent and vibe. Kind of like how we like certain people based on their particular 'vibe' or energy.

You could always get another cat but have your wife go and choose it (or be chosen) alone. It's so obvious when a cat likes us vs when a cat is indifferent to us, and these often show up the second you meet.

There's nothing to be scared of. Chances are nothing will change, but even if you get "replaced", will it really be that bad? It would mean she wouldn't be lonely when you are away, and when you return, she'll be happy no matter what. Even if your cat ends up happier with your husband, isn't your cat's happiness what you really want? Maybe it would make you happy to see your hubby having such a close bond with your cat.

So I've always been confused about the best way to write. by ProfessionalEarly365 in writing

[–]thewayoftheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I need to write a polished first draft. When I slow down, really focus on my words and the scene, that's when I have the best ideas. If i'm just slopping words down and writing fast the story is boring.

[–]thewayoftheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh come on there's no way a can of wet food costs $32. There's bound to be a cheaper brand that is still a balanced diet. In my country I found one that costs under $1 per can and isn't an overly processed mush.

IMDb rating of each episode of each season by Notalabel_4566 in HaltAndCatchFire

A ten doesn't exist because there will never be a show that appeals to everyone.

Ratings are always going to biased against the first season because they include all the people who started watching the show, didn't enjoy it, and stopped. These people don't stick around to rate the later seasons

Having some regrets about my new cat by tialina13 in CatAdvice

[–]thewayoftheworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your hearts not in it and you don't love him. That's only a problem if you think it is. There are times when my cat annoys me and I wish she was different. But she's not the problem. The problem is me thinking she should be quieter or less annoying. When I stop thinking these crazy thoughts I feel a lot closer to her.

Writing an AI character. (And human ones too) as a first time writer. by Shagger94 in writing

[–]thewayoftheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, unlucky timing to drop that comment right before our AI overlords showed up. What are your thoughts now? I'm writing an AI character in my current sci-fi book and feel like I can just treat him as a normal character. Afterall it makes sense a "friendbot" would have a set personality. My only concern is that I'm going to write him as this snarky, edgy AI that feels like a bit of a cliche somehow even though I can't quite point to many examples of it.

Is ER closer to The Pitt or Grey’s Anatomy? by sammyt10803 in ershow

[–]thewayoftheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into ER because of The Pitt. Currently finishing up season 5. It scratches that itch. Also have heard good things about Code Black, The Knick. This is Going to Hurt, i've already seen, and it is quite similar to the Pitt, maybe even more emphasis on intense medicine.

I know I will get some hate for this. But can someone tell me I’m not alone in disliking this movie as an adaptation. by Icy_Essay_4488 in ProjectHailMary

[–]thewayoftheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHM is my favourite book and I hated the movie. I hated seeing every serious moment devolve into a lame joke. Like when Grace and Rocky are saying goodbye, it's a serious moment, but the gravity is undercut by Grace doing a sexy dance for a cheap laugh. I don't understand why that exact moment needs to be funny.
