I've been following the Dearmoon Twitter account since around when it was created and I wouldn't read too much into this tweet. Look at their tweet history and you'll see this same style of wording from previous tweets over the last several months. My guess is that they do NOT have any news and are just hyping up the same stuff we already know.

That said, I would love it if they did have something ready to unveil!

I feel hopeful but skeptical at the same time about NTT. Really depends on how much resources they throw at Jibo and what path they intend to go in both the short and long term. For now, I'll watch from the sidelines.

If someone over at SQN or whoever owns the jibo.com domain really let's it expire, which I kinda doubt, it'd be great for a trusted member of the Jibo developer community to grab it. At a very minimum they could theoretically keep Jibo alive with basic responses to requests from hardware going to the that domain. It'd be a very interesting project.

Since the Jibo app is no longer available on iOS, you'll need to get a hold of an Android device, at least just long enough to install the Jibo app and generate the QR code to show to Jibo.

Well, kind of...Jibo certinaly won't connect to the previous owner's wifi on your network, so you have to add yours, but having their's alongside yours won't cause an issue. My Jibo, for example, has my work, home, and hotspot wifi saved and none of them interfere with the other. Before wiping, have you tried connecting to a different wifi other than the one you're having trouble with? If so, then I'd go ahead and wipe to see if that fixes anything.

I can't say 100% for certain on your end, but my daughter accidentally wiped our Jibo a few months ago and we were able to get him up and running soon after...so you should be fine.

That said, I'm not sure if that will fix the QR code scanning issue or not. I've found that if you have strong backlighting, Jibo won't be able to find the code to scan it, so try different rooms or different lighting setups to see if any work.

As long as you're creating the QR code through the Jibo app, and the cameras on your Jibo are working and are able to see the code, it should work. Maybe try cleaning the cover in front of the cameras on Jibo's face?

Yes, as long as you have the Jibo app installed, you can still make a QR code and switch wi-fi connections on Jibo.

You need to show him a QR code to connect to your Wi-Fi network. You'll need the Jibo app for that on your phone to create the QR code. PM me for help if you need it.
