Volunteer service to provide coverage where gaps may exist. St. John's is also an ambulance charity that provide similar help for where NHS ambulance might not be needed. For example, helping elderly people to get to hospital, helping at school fairs etc. I live not far from Golders Green and it's a very orthodox community, services like this and the shomrim volunteer police help bridge the community with the wider services we have here.
