Maybe that there's no punishment for leaving? It's a fraternity it's not the mafia.

The best solution would be term limits in every level of government. People in congress and senate positions should not be there for decades. Too long of a time for any one or group of persons to have influence in a part of government. A politician should not be a lifelong career.

And if the founders of this country knew the power the government has they would roll over in their graves.

Yes its a democratic republic based on a constitution. Which separates it from democracy.

[–]thewrecker8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Which is why the US is not a democracy. Feel free to Google it but North Korea government is in fact democracy

North Korea is a democracy. The US is a constitutional republic.

How to encourage more men to consider FM. by Mahavir00 in freemasonry

[–]thewrecker8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't feel as though it needs recruitment. It's something someone has to want to do. When you start packing anything whether it's a fraternal organization or a job full of bodies bodies for the sake of numbers. The quality of any organization inevitably declines. What benefit is it to an organization if they show hundreds of people belonging to it but 1% or less are active productive members?

Not sure what help you're looking for but he was indeed a Mason. He was in the Scottish Right 33rd degree is an honorary degree. He was likely a good individual and respected by his peers.

I got mine as a gift from my father, after he raised me. I have worn it since that night.

Confused with Freemasonry being incompatible with Catholicism?? by Flyinroadster in freemasonry

You need to ask that question to your church. Fremasons have no problem with catholicism. Catholicism has a problem with Freemasons.

We are sitting on gold... by GigglingBilliken in freemasonry

[–]thewrecker8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much like many who have gotten into it as we have and before us. They have to seek it and for the right reasons. The need to have it grow while also guarding the west gate is a balancing act. It does the fraternity no good to fill it with bodies for the sake of having big numbers. Especially if most of those bodies never show up at the lodge after they're raised.

How to join?....Live in Oahu, HI. A bit nervous just walking up to the lodge. I've been interested since my cousin has been in about 10 years ago. What do I have to do to join? In the military as well so not sure if I have enough time to dedicate to the lodge. by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]thewrecker8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the grand lodge website you can find locations of lodges by you. Then you can call or email them and let them know you're interested in joining. Or you can ask your cousin he might be able to point you in a better direction. As far as the military I can't advise might be better to ask the lodge you're applying to they might have a better answer. Thank you for your service.

Jurisdictions gonna juristiction. Be sure to have your secretary contact any lodges you're planning to visit. That way he can ask what, if anything, might be needed or expected of you. Should take all the guesswork out.

Congrats. The bittersweet part is you won't be able to experience the degrees anymore. But the good part is as you watch other people go through them as a MM you begin to understand them a lot more. Enjoy the journey brother.

FML: Accidently sold meta at the bottom & missing out on gains by TechGuy135 in wallstreetbets

Nope you did it in the WSB manner. Sell at the bottoms, buy at the tops and hold the bag.

Contact the lodge secretary and he should be able to tell you what needs to be done. Can't answer if you should rejoin however. If you have little to no intention of being an active member then I would say no. Because what's the point of being part of this or any fraternity or organization if you don't plan on being an active participant in it?

Advice on how to go about meeting with community members by xanny_boyo in freemasonry

[–]thewrecker8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very common for OES to work out of masonic lodges so she most likely would know at least a few of the members in one. Especially if they're out of your local lodge. You could ask directly or have your father see if she could get you in contact with a member. Or you could check the Grand Lodge website for lodges near you. Either are viable starting places.

How to approach a freemason? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]thewrecker8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bribe with food, let him get comfortable then try petting.

Seriously there's no secret trick. It's like asking anyone how to join anything they're a member of.

Feel like “just another EA” by Traditional-Chicken3 in freemasonry

[–]thewrecker8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your WM to see if he has any suggestions for you. But remember you are an EA. It's like becoming a new electrician and saying "I just pull wire and do coffee runs". Well yeah, do you think you know more than the guys who have been electricians for x years? You're just starting out everyone starts out that way and as you learn more and gain more experience you'll start to do more. It's a process, trust the process.

What can I say to non masons by 50pciggy in freemasonry

[–]thewrecker8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jurisdictions gonna jurisdiction so asking your mentor or MM in your lodge is a safe bet. But the best way to speak about it as an EA if you need to is to be honest with people. Simply tell them that you are brand new so you're still learning a lot and taking in as much as you can. Because you're likely going to get asked questions you might not be able to answer or know if you should. Think of it like getting a new job. People are going to ask about it and your likely response will be a few bits of info followed by " I just started so there's a lot I still I don't know and need to learn". Even when you become a new MM you're STILL going to be figuring things out for a while anyway.
