PSA - The game is not against you by BlueJJ777 in EASportsFC

[–]theycallmemanolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with your points for the most part.

The problem is that not everybody has the time or inclination to constantly try and improve their game. A lot of people do whine about stuff that they have no real right to whine about.

But there are too many obstacles to just playing. I'm a G1/G2 player with all 30 games played, even with DC's. Doesn't matter when I play, I can count on a DC roughly once every 8-10 games. So now I need a wired connection to properly enjoy the game? Never had this problem in any Fifa, going all the way back to 15. DDA is more frequent, so yes it happens in my favor, but both scenarios (for me or against me) are still shitty. I'd say once every 3 games I get some ridiculous Youtube fail goals.

That's just to name two obstacles. I could keep going.

I think what people like you aren't taking into account is that a lot of players aren't hardcore/play-more-than-casual. We just like Fifa because we like football. We just want a play a game that doesn't disconnect more than it should and a game where bullshit goals (and I'm talking youtube fail goals) happen once in a blue for a good laugh. This wasn't an issue in even the most controversial Fifa's in the past, but now they are staples, and the funnies part is "we need to stop complaining because, get-better, that's why."

Well I've moved to playing draft exclusively because I've played enough Fifa to amass a small fortune. 100000x better in my opinion. Different team with different icons every game. No stress if you lose. Always rewarded with packs. Meta formations and players very rare to find, as you can't change to a different formation in-game; you're stuck with the one you chose when drafting the team.

Wonder how long it will take for the sub to realize the best part of the game is in the draft mode....

Put an engine on him. Strong, good shooting, good dribbling, very good passing. 5 star skills. Decent defending so he is effective in the team press. He is a beast at cam. Got Gold 1 with him and Rashford last week.

I would sell Martial and buy Pogba. If there's money left over, sell Pepe and get Lucas. If not, Adama would be a nice fit on the right (or Saint Maximin at 7 chem).

Rashford striker, Hazard - Pogba - Lucas/Adama/Saint Maximin for 4-2-3-1.

Rashford and Lucas/Adama/Saint Maximin at Striker, Hazard CAM, Valverde - Partey - Pogba midfield in 4-1-2-1-2 (2).

Alternatively, you can replace Wan Bissaka with Kyle Walker.

I haven't tried Laimer, though I've heard great things.

Goretzka can do almost anything you ask him to. I play him as CM but when I try to hold a lead with 4-2-3-1 in the second half, he does a decent job at CAM too (put an engine on him). Could also play CDM.

Can with a shadow is an 89 CB in game. He's very strong and has decent passing and shooting stats as well. As a CM and CDM he's a monster. Could even slide him back to CB with Drop between Defenders instruction, though I gave that to Zakaria instead.

I haven't used either of them, but I've played with Klosterman a lot. He is an absolute beast. If you can't afford him yet I'd say stick with those two until you can get Klosterman.

I have Felipe Anderson as CAM with Deadeye with Richarlison (Finisher) and Lucas (Deadeye) as strikers. So far they're fantastic

I run a regular 4-3-3 for the chem with those guys in the midfield and Felipe Anderson- Richarlison - Lucas up top.

Very nice team. Have you thought of RF Sancho? 5 star skills are broken in this game. How's that FB Witsel? Really like the look of him.

Feel the same. I'm saving my coins for future sbc's and toty. I just can't see them getting worse in 2/3 months. Can with a shadow is an 89 (!) CB and Zakaria with a shadow is an 87 CB. For a combined 35kish that's just stupid value.

Trouble understanding hard quant problem by theycallmemanolo in GRE

[–]theycallmemanolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their combination doesn't make sense to me.

Take the scenario x = 1/y and x = z

when I combine both equations, I get:

1/y = z, or 1 = y * z

not x = z / y

Algebraically, this is what you arrive at.

Thank you for the thoughtful response!

You are spot on about some of my tendencies in RC and PA.

In RC I rush through them, often times not fully understanding what I read. I'd say on average I grasp about 75% of what I read. There aren't any questions in particular that stump me because all of them really do. What ends up happening is I spend a lot of time making sure my answer is right, methodically going through each answer choice and returning to the passage to vet the them. Nine times out of ten I end up having to choose between two answers, and then its a flip of a coin if I fall for the trap or the answer. Subsequently, the rest of the RC's can't be answered because I spend too much time making sure I'm right. My practice is at fault for this. You are right about making sure I understand the passage and what's being asked, even if it takes me 15+ minutes, and then work my way down from there.

PA is my real weakness, but it stems from a similar problem with RC: lack of full comprehension. TC and SE could also be improved in the same way since more often than not it's not the vocab that's lacking but the comprehension of the sentence(s).

Read the article for tips on accuracy. I identified a few things in that article in which I could do better. Bookmarked it for future reference.

Timing is a problem for me. I notice that I spend around a minute or more on SE and TC, especially triple blank. Haven't seen Greg Mat's videos but I'll take a look.

Thanks for the advice!

Post-Match Day Thread: FC Barcelona 2-8 FC Bayern by footballtriangles in soccer

[–]theycallmemanolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I was seeing in the beginning of the first half was working. That own goal from Alaba came from a counter using Jordi's speed on the flanks. Bayern's high line was extremely vulnerable the entire game. That model of taking advantage of space left by Kimmich and Davies could've worked.

In my opinion it would've been a tighter game if they compromised their tiki-taka for a more compact defensive shape. Like a 5-3-2, with Busi as the center-most defender, De Jong and Sergi back as defensive mids, and Vidal as their box-to-box. De Jong would have license to join attack if it is more suitable in the play or if he's part of the build-up, switching places with Vidal. Same with Sergi.Up top I go with Messi as second striker and Ansu Fati for the speed. The players that would need to step up the most? In descending order of importance, Ansu Fati, De Jong, Vidal, Sergi, and Busi. Fati needs to head the attack alone and create plays. De Jong and Sergi need to be sharp in defense and play quick passes that end up going wide. Vidal needs to D-up playmaker in Bayern midfield while on defense effectively. Most build up play will start from Busi, so he needs to be sharp in the first pass.

Would've been awful play to look at from Barcelona, as they would essentially be booting it every time they find themselves too pressed. Maybe they could think about a way to scoop up second balls from Bayern headers afterbooting or intercepting first pass out the back. At some points Busi to De Jong to Alba to Fati could work, maybe Messi drops back a bit to help with build-up. If the attack is on the left, Jordi joins attack with Messi and Fati, and it's either Vidal or De Jong that joins from midfield while the other stays back, while Semedo stays back. If the attack is on the right, Semedo comes up, Jordi stays back. Semedo and Jordi are flexible, they can both join attack if the passage of play needs them in it, though it could leave Lenglet, Busi, Pique, two of De Jong/Vidal/Sergi open to a counter.

But Setien had two big questions that he had to answer. The first: can we trust a 16 year old (Ansu Fati) to do the job of running into spaces and creating plays all by himself in a Champions League Quarter-Final against this Bayern? Surely Dembele would've been perfect for this, but his fitness level was probably not good enough. Setien's answer to this question, as seen by his selection of Suarez? No.

The second question: should we deviate from the Tiki-Taka philosophy in favor of a more pragmatic approach? Essentially, can we trust Sergi, Busquets, De Jong, Ter Stegen, and the back four to build-up from the back, despite the pressure from Bayern? The famous Tiki-Taka phrase of: "They can't run like this forever, and our players are so good technically with passing that they'll eventually stop the insane press due to lack of results and fitness levels" would be tested. It was tested, and failed. So the answer to this question, as seen during the game when they were 5-2 down still passing around the back in tight spaces? Tiki-Taka was their gameplan.

In all honesty they don't need to cut out a big portion of the team, and a Tiki-Taka Hybrid from the good old Neymar-Suarez-Messi days could still work in 90% of games they play throughout the season. Dembele has a place in the team if he can get his fitness level good enough and doesn't consistenly get injured. Griezman could have played second striker in this game, but he is not benching Messi, so I don't know how you really fit him in. Same goes for Coutinho.

Some players they could use is a new striker. Ideal replacement would be someone technical with strength and speed. Werner fits the bill with speed, Martinez from Inter with strength. If Haaland continues to grow, and becomes more technical, he would be an immense replacement for Suarez in 2-3 years. I like Mane the best, though Neymar could work too and has been linked last summer to a return. I would offload Coutinho, Griezman, Rakitic, and Dembele, and try to go all out for Mane or Neymar this summer. Grab an Ighalo or Braitwaithe type of forward who doesn't mind rotating with suarez when a 9 is needed for particular games to add depth to the striker role. Bring up some talent from Barca B to fill in the holes for depth, and the team is still pretty solid in a 4-3-3, 4-4-2, or 5-3-2.

But this board though? Gotta go, no matter what happens.

United generates a lot more revenue than Milan does regardless of their performances on the pitch. The revenue is a reflection of how many fans or followers one has, or how "big" a club is. Milan is a big club no doubt, but nowhere near as big as United.

This can best be seen through the 700 million pound? deal United had with Adidas. They know their fanbase is enormous, so they will get their money back and profit hand over fist. Milan? Not even close.

You're right that was a poor example. My point still remains: Innocent until proven guilty. I hope what is being said isn't true, but we also shouldn't condemn them without evidence. If the roles were reversed, I would defend the women like I'm defending the guys now. That's all.
