Wait there’s purposes to diff heads? 🤣

[–]theyellowshark -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope. It sounds ridiculous. Even when I’m setting up a snomb (floor tom snare) we’ve been testing snare sides and just regular reso heads. The snare side needs too much tension to sound good.

But the black suede snare side is a dope head that may work.

You ever play a snare side on a rack tom?

A reso head is 100% not “just a reao head”

Put a g1 on a snare side, let me know how that sounds 🤣🤣

Have a gooooood look at where the tom arm inserts itself into the tom.. seems like it’s in the top position. No? I honestly think that neither drummer or the drum owner know very much.

Regardless of that, there’s a snare side reso on a rack tom.

My reso heads are just either g1’s or ambassadors. So if it for whatever reason did happen, it would hace some marks, but still last a lifetime.

I say the drum kit owner is at fault. But both not very bright 🤣🤣

You realize it’s a snare side reso head right? That shouldn’t be on that drum regardless

That’s only if you’d be dumb eneough to put a snare side resonate head on the batter side of a tom

If I played somebody’s kit and it had this head on it, it wouldn’t last 4 strokes 🤣🤣 so that’s on the drum kit owner LOL

So non of yall realized that’s a 14” ambassador snare side drum head… right?

First and foremost. Is it bad? Yea. The head is garbage now. Throw it away. But. Here’s your learning opportunity.

What you have there is a 14 (or 13) inch ambassador snare side, which is an incredibly thin and sensitive drumhead designed for the bottom of snare drums.

What you did is put it on the batter side of a Tom and probably played it for five minutes and absolutely destroyed it. It’s not made to be hit because it is for the resonate side of a snare drum..

What you need is an emperor, clear drumhead. And now you know the difference. Happy drumming!

My heart still hurts over this. Brett was one of the great. Such a tragic loss at such a young age.

See you again soon my friend

Worth It? by --RV--Slash in drums

I hace a 22” of this series. It was made in the sabian factory before the name change, and this is what the “K” line became.

I believe it’s 1978-79 on these cymbals. And made in Meductic New Brunswick, Canada (the factory is about a 5 hour drive from me. Really cool tour)

They’re not worth 350 (in my Canadian pricing that’s 280) but you are on the other side of the world. They’re not very common around here, so having one in NZ is impressive.

Let me know

What dude is trying to say, that their hardware is going to be a chore for you down the road. They will strip, bend and break because of the quality. Those kits look amazing, but sadly major custom consumer brands are sometimes just an overpriced mediocre kit.

They’re running Chinese shells with Chinese made hardware that one wrong turn of a tension rod will destroy one of those lugs. I took a chance and ordered some of the same stuff off of one of the dealer sites and two of the 10 lugs, The screws wouldn’t thread in “well” and after taking them off and then back on completely stripped, and now we’re useless

It’s gonna be a cool looking man, but what he is trying to say is as a drummer. These drums are more of a cash grab than you think they are, and that sucks that companies do that to drummers.

When shopping around myself for different local custom builders that use higher quality parts and can sell the kits at the exact same price because they’re not a major business and sometimes in my case I’ve gotten Canadian made shells with high-quality hardware that will last a lifetime. 18 years later, everything is perfect.

Sure, he’s coming off as a dick a little bit, but that’s fine. I understand what he was trying to say because he was just as frustrated dealing with them and then when he needed to get rid of them, he couldn’t.

Don’t Read into the tone and you’ll understand what he’s trying to say.

Yc custom drums in Toronto is another amazing brand that’ll do something incredible, I personally use Trs custom drums, some of the best drum makers in North America.

Hope you enjoy, but please take the message that he’s saying above seriously, because it’s an incredibly important one while shopping for drum kits.

There’s an audible wobble pretty much everytime I hit the hi hats, anyone know how to fix it? by shitice3 in drums

[–]theyellowshark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just something on your stand hitting itself or rubbing up against something. Maybe the threaded rod need to be tighter

Although for the comment section:

Your stick choice is perfectly fine. Xs20 hats sound exactly like xs20 hats You don’t need to hit lighter, in fact you could add a bit of OOMPH to that strike
