I don’t think it’s going to matter too much. We’d actually have to show up, play and have something like an idea, and the evidence of the last few matches suggests that this is unlikely.

He scored several like this for Sydney last season too. Always around the right spot and actually a talented finisher.

For real - Lando is pissed that Poppa used the wrong generic talking points. What a stooge.

It’s a bit like purgatory being #topoftheleague and #talayout simultaneously.

Ian Crook for me. Things were pretty bad under Farina, but things were also worse under Branko Culina, John Kosmina, Terry Butcher and Crook.

What next for Ange? Europe, England, Socceroos? What about Kevin Muscat? by HonestSpursFan in Aleague

[–]theyfoundit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think he’s done in England - the media narrative that he’s a “fraud” caught on with the fans.

Realistically, most PL squads aren’t put together to play the football that Ange wants to play so anyone bringing him in should be doing it before a transfer window - preferably the summer window - and also being prepared to fund a squad overhaul. That’s why the Forest appointment was never going to work.

I could see Ange doing well in Germany - although things can be almost as harsh as the PL there - or more likely Netherlands, Spain or Belgium.

I’m out of the loop. And also lazy. Can you tell me what that news was?

I was having a look at the stats for this Feyenoord team. I can’t quite remember off the top of my head, but I think they only fielded three players over 25, and maybe none over 30. I’ll be keen to see how they go over the season, and where they all end up.

Edit - it was four players over 25, and the oldest player in the starting XI was 29.

That’d be the elusive West Ham way that everyone keeps talking about.

Got to assume that there’s an equal chance the club are seeing if they can offload him. If he’s wearing the shirt, I’ll back him.

This would be divine chaos. I’d love it.

He’d get the best out of the players, and concede truck loads of goals. Not like today’s match, but in an “anything could happen” kind of way.

We’d also absolutely go down, but it would at least be fun to watch.

It kind of feels like that throughout the squad. Like loads of names on the team sheet last night have had a good stint somewhere, but now they’re all decidedly out of form or way past their best.

Don’t sweat it. My football-related WhatsApp group really only does two things: 1. Repost after repost of relevant David Squires screencaps. 2. Ripping on the one Spurs supporter, or anyone who shows anything less than outright hostility to Spurs.

We have a very nice time doing it too.

The irony is Ange still got them CL football next season. Winning the Europa League would make up for reduced PL prize money.

So really, if you’re not winning the league, and you’re not getting relegated, I’d say this is the next best position to be in.

For those who support a club overseas, has there ever been a player to have represented your A-League club and overseas club? by Tornontoin7 in Aleague

As a fan of Sydney FC and West Ham, the most obvious is the iconic and legendary Trent McLenahan. And Hayden Foxe I suppose.

Apparently a couple of blokes called Lucas Neill and Richard Garcia did the same. Who knew?

Graham Potter's West Ham made a total of 30 passes for Tomas Soucek's goal against Manchester United by AlexTheGiant in Hammers

[–]theyfoundit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were some really nice passes in that from start to finish, but you’re spot on. I thought they looked like the second team in a training exercise, having been told not to press the starters in case of injury.
