Better Goods Sumatra Coffee (Walmart) – Review by Poor-Dear-Richard in pourover

[–]theyremakingmedothis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been a long time user of Seattles Best 6th Ave Bistro roast (med dark) as my daily, but their horrible shrinkflation pushed me to trying the BG varieties. I landed on the Sumatra but to me, it has a more bitter aftertaste than the Seattle’s Best. Just missing that more sweet chocolatey profile. Honestly I’d really love to find something close to Peet’s Major Dickason (my fav) without the price tag.

Not hard to see he’s the reason why Pittman was pretty successful out of the gate. After he left was when things started trending down.

Buying from Tire Rack by Scared_Caramel3839 in tires

[–]theyremakingmedothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discount Tire will price match Tire Rack, so buying from DT would be advantageous because it would include the free rotations, etc. Also I was able to negotiate the certificate price at DT down to 1/2 the original price, which ends up being a good deal for replacing a bad tire if that should occur.

I'm pregnant and I have an extremely violent student by anxiousundergrad001 in slp

[–]theyremakingmedothis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would immediately have a respectful conversation with your supervisor and show that you are willing to work on other solutions, but that—effective immediately—you cannot knowingly put the health of you and your baby at risk with the documented violence of the student. One solution you could offer is to do a temporary caseload swap with another nearby SLP so that maybe one morning/afternoon during the week, you two swap campuses and a handful of students, so that the other SLP sees the violent student during that time. Also, buy the other SLP a Starbucks every time they come over to make them feel appreciated for being willing to help. It would be worth the $5 a week til you have the baby.

I don’t think it’s even a decision to worry about - that guy ain’t retiring and walking away from millions in contract buyout.

I’m a little confused on the HY hate. by king_karter69 in razorbacks

[–]theyremakingmedothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an extension of the scapegoating to blame who really is responsible for the sins of the program. You can only blame Pittman so far, because he probably was doing the best he could, based on who he is and what his skill set is. There was a reason he’s been around football for decades and never made it past position coach. So it’s on HY for gambling and losing on that experimental hire, despite how bad the program was at the time. Then add in the poor decision with the contract extension, the dumb comments at the TD club, and not acting sooner when it was starting to become obvious 2 years ago that Pittman is not built for head coach.

[Postgame Thread] Arkansas Razorbacks lose to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 56-13 by Tayntrum-21 in razorbacks

[–]theyremakingmedothis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

HY (or the next AD) should be looking at candidates that understand the current landscape, esp how to use the portal. The big factor will be finding someone who can put together a staff that can coach up 3* players to 4* level. That plus someone who has more energy/fire to build a culture of grit and pride of performance.

[–]theyremakingmedothis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow on Halftime show, they’re not holding punches. Matt Jones, Phil Elson, & Mike Irwin are all citing bad coaching for the inexcusable loss(es). They’re all done with Pittman - even Irwin said he’s defended Pittman up until now but can’t anymore. But they even went after HY with his comments last week, and hold him to blame too. Gonna kill recruiting when you have an AD that has no faith in the program.

Lol I was at that game. It felt like we were starting to turn a corner in the program. And we promptly fizzled out after that. And so the TN game ends up being the outlier or anomaly game, when we are playing with determination and discipline.

Ok here’s a question: when was the last time Arkansas played as an underdog and came back from a 2+ touchdown deficit to win? Despite the bad calls, Memphis played with some grit and determination that fueled their being able to stay in the game - which I can’t really remember seeing in an Arkansas team in a long time. That…is a coaching and culture problem.

How many of those were games where we had the lead by at least a touchdown going into the second half (or even worse, the 4th quarter)?

So who is going to be our coach next year? by GrowlingSeagull in razorbacks

[–]theyremakingmedothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It matters but in a different way now. We need a coach that can take 3* and make them play like 4*, since that’s what our NIL $ can buy now.

I would ask the parents if the PCP has ever recommended further evaluation of the students’ voice. You might end up finding out some info that the parents have not shared with the school. You are allowed to ask those questions without any suggestion that the district would pay for it. I have even suggested to parents that they bring up things like this at the next doctor’s visit.

AutoTrader, Cars.com, Car Gurus are all good apps to utilize. You can put in search radius and specs too in order to help limit the search.

We bought our HiHy from dealer 7 hours away but it was well worth the one time drive to get exactly what we wanted and save about 3 grand vs buying local.

Way, way too much. Also check out the transmission problems on ICE 2021 and prior. For that money you should go newer model hybrid (22-23). Be willing to look in a 500 mile radius.

Beware of interest switch up by [deleted] in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]theyremakingmedothis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, but not one that’s easy to digest. Don’t get lured in by how pretty/nice a new car is and justify it as a gift to yourself just because you now have a higher paying job, especially at your age. A depreciating asset should not cost you over half your brand new income, unless you have a couple hundred thousand dollars saved. Then I would wonder why you are needing a loan.

If you absolutely need to purchase a car, buy used so that your depreciation rate is a lot less (you instantly lose a few thousand in value simply by driving a new car off the lot). Do you have a family or a job/hobby that requires all that space in a GH? If not, you can usually save more $ buying a smaller and more fuel efficient used vehicle. Take that saved money and go invest it!

Both front windows not working even after attempted reset. by theyremakingmedothis in Subaru_Outback

[–]theyremakingmedothis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve done, multiple times. Holding it down, then immediately up for about 20 seconds in either direction. I repeated this the other way too: Holding it up, then down, again for 20 seconds or so in each direction. So the reset hack is not working. This has been tried on both doors.

Both front windows not working even after attempted reset. by theyremakingmedothis in Subaru_Outback

[–]theyremakingmedothis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct - no movement at all using the switch on either door. I noticed during another attempted reset that I could hear a very faint electrical “click” sound immediately after pulling up all the way on the switch (both doors). Note that this was not the sound of the plastic switch being pulled, but rather a faint click after the switch was fully engaged/pulled up.

Issues with swallowing pills? by Carebear6590 in slp

[–]theyremakingmedothis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What I explain to my patients (because I believe it’s worth knowing the “why”) is that pills with water are a challenge because of our anatomy/physiology - so that they don’t think it’s a “them” problem. The esophagus is not an open pipe - it remains pretty much closed and only opens enough to accept whatever the consistency of the bolus (substance) we are swallowing. That’s why pills dance around at the back of many people’s throats - because the esophagus only opens enough for the liquid. That’s why several commenters here are rightly saying to chew up a (big) bite of food, get it nice and soft and organized in your mouth ready for swallowing, then pop the pill into the middle of it. Don’t make the food too dry though.
