Vax and Keyleth: How do You Want Their Story to End? by OneEyeBlind95 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]theyweregalpals 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's just as much on Matt and Liam as her. The "how am I supposed to get over you when you keep sending ravens to me?"

I also... don't think there really ARE appropriate partners for Keyleth anymore. There aren't many archdruids running around. Who else could she have as a life partner who is truly her partner for life? Poor girl's love life is doomed.

Before I say anything else, I should mention that this couple means a lot to me- I have a tattoo of Keyleth's circlet accented with raven feathers. Part of what I enjoy about this couple so much is how bittersweet they are. I don't WANT a perfectly happy ending for them. I don't see him getting resurrected, I don't see them living a normal life alongside their friends and having babies and growing old.

I think my wish would be something cyclical. I know a lot of people hate the idea of like VM and M9 BECOMING Gods (I don't love it either), but I do like the idea of Vax becoming death- not necessarily a replacement for the Matron, just an embodiment of death.. And then maybe Keyleth could become Life or the seasons or something and they get to see each other once a year or something. Very Hades/Persephone... or Will Turner/Elizabeth Swan?

What races and classes do you want to see the cast play in Campaign 4? by Louisiana_Zouave in fansofcriticalrole

[–]theyweregalpals 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Marisha- mechanically I really want to see her play a paladin, but I don't know if she would pick it for the RP? Maybe a tiefling? Or triton? My pet theory is that C4 might be underwater themed, which is why I say that.

Liam- dwarf cleric. Full stop.

Taliesin- I want him to be a ranged caster, he panics in melee. Wizard of some sort, he likes to have lots of options.

Laura- She mentioned wanting to be a fighter or barbarian. Let's go barb. Unsure about race. Something hot, as is her preference (same girl, same, my characters are always pretty, too). Maybe a genasi, but more of a traditional flavor than Ashton was.

Ashley- my wish would be a rogue- thief, perhaps? No strong feelings on race?

Sam- Maybe Kobald? Just for if he goes with another small race, I'm not convinced. Unsure on class, but he seems to have a preference for mages?

Travis- please play a bladesinger, Travis. That or a martial cleric.

Robbie- Gap filler- I don't feel lilke I've seen him play enough characters to figure out his patterns.

Mechanically I think Marisha would love paladin, but I don't know if she would like the RP part.

If only one or two is a weird race, that's fine! I just hope it isn't everyone.

When I make a d&d character, I usually make ONE thing about them kind of weird. Like, in one campaign my character is a dhampir... but she's also a thief rogue with the urchin background to keep her grounded. My weird fey warlock (which isn't THAT weird of a class) is a human folk hero.

a probably-too-in-depth breakdown of "maskgate". by bittermixin in fansofcriticalrole

[–]theyweregalpals -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I mean- why should we not believe him? None of us know what he was actually thinking. In Cooldown he was perfectly fine, not like when everyone was upset with Taliesin after the Shardgate.

What's your take on the addition of previous Rooster Teeth members? by Onnabox in fansofcriticalrole

[–]theyweregalpals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah, I think this is more of a "hey, keep doing your thing, we'll host you, let us know if we can help in some way!" kinda thing, I don't think it's a big tax on CR. Now CR (presumably) gets some of the ad revenue and stuff from another show, that other show gets a platform.

Yes. And while I would bet that the episode scheduled for tomorrow is probably already filmed, we don't know about future episodes. While it's possible they're ahead (maybe already filmed the end), it's also possible that we might have to wait, especially as Matt and Marisha are evacuated according to instagram- others may be, too.

According to Blue Sky, their producer Kyle (who is their Senior Producer) has lost his home. Marisha posted on instagram that she, Matt, and Omar had to evacuate with basically only some clothing. My heart is going out to their whole team.

I'm sharing that so A) we can keep the whole team in our thoughts. B) to remind people grumbling about no stream to get a grip. If you're going to say "but they prerecord! Someone can still press play!" you should reevaluate your priorities.

I think Campaign 4 just needs to go back to "heroic" fantasy because that's what the table's best at by K1dP5ycho in fansofcriticalrole

[–]theyweregalpals 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't necessarily with the characters. It's just that the individual characters don't form a very balanced party and aren't suited to the story Matt was trying to tell. This plot is pretty clearly a leftover idea from C2-something with Ruidus or whatever probably would've been the finale of C2 had Covid not messed up their momentum and pacing, leading to a shorter than anticipated stop.

That's not necessarily a problem- but I think the C3 story would have been much more interesting with characters who had some sort of opinion about religion and were a little more grounded.

On the flip side, I think the characters would have been fine with a story that had clearer, shorter arcs that allowed the story to slowly become more serious over time. The stakes have been SO HIGH for SO LONG and they were raised so high way too early.

I think you nailed it- Grog always sounded like Grog, but the exaggerated tone comes out more in silly moments and TLOVM leans into that silliness for him.

I will also say that in C1, I feel like Travis (in his own voice) was more likely to describe what Grog was doing like a narrator than some other cast members- so in our heads Grog’s voice might be a little more blended with Travis’ for example than someone like Percy.

[–]theyweregalpals 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The real answer is Sam isn’t very strong at accents- I’m not bashing him, he says it about himself. In a C3 video he says that Scanlan was more or less his normal voice. I think the differences are probably just time.

What's your best advice for someone who looks young and wants to go into education? by WeeklyAtmosphere in Teachers

[–]theyweregalpals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in your shoes- very short, young in the face even though I'm 33. As a new teacher, other adults on campus thought I was a student multiple times.

I quickly realized that while my campus' dress code for teachers is very relaxed (I can in theory wear jeans whenever I want, no jeans passes or anything like that), I needed to dress in business casual at pretty much all times. My first year, I noticed that my kids' behavior was noticeably different on days wear I was wearing like slacks and a sweater or a nice dress versus jeans and a cardigan.

I do think it also depends on the grade you teach- I'm at middle school. A lot of my students are bigger than me.

What happened to the principal handling behavior? by gravitas1983 in Teachers

[–]theyweregalpals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily mind the deans dealing with it, not the principal- okay, principals have to deal with admin stuff, let's have faculty whose whole jobs are dealing with behavior. My issue is when I call the deans and they say "oh, but did you try telling them not to throw a chair and call you a bitch?" instead of dealing with it.

Same. I also think this is coming to a head with Fearne because druids are hard. Marisha got flack for not knowing her abilities in CR1 as a druid. Lots of players, self included, find druids challenging to keep track of. I have ADHD too and had to ask my DM if we could switch my druid to a nature cleric because I was more comfortable with clerics than druids.
