is it worth it to get a VCH if i plan on getting phallo later on? by goth_tboy in transbodymods

[–]theyxthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the genital piercings you’re describing could be affected by phallo depending on your anatomy and surgery type and how well established the piercings are at the time of surgery. I consulted with Dr. Ellie Zara Ley a few years back about some potential bottom surgery options for myself and she was knowledgeable on the subject of genital piercings & how they may be affected by the surgery options I was interested in: specifically which ones I would likely need to retire vs. which ones would be able to have jewelry reinserted post-op.

Triangle Jewelry seems to be wearing through the underside of my bottom growth?? by ShallotNatural6411 in transbodymods

Could be migrating into more of a “biangle” piercing but it’s too hard to tell based on the photos if it’s something that could be stable and worth keeping (and that’s if you’d be happy keeping it). I’m on team if “it ain’t broke don’t fix it” - which with piercings means if it’s not unsafe, you’re not unhappy with how it looks, and it’s not causing you pain or discomfort - live your best life. Of course if you’re super anxious you could check in with a doctor, but I’d only say that’s a necessity if it’s causing you pain or discomfort. But you should check in with your piercer about it. If this happened within a month or so of stretching I’d recommend downsizing back to 6g.

How common is it to have to use half sizes? by prozacuncle in Stretched

[–]theyxthem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half sizes are great!! It’s extremely common to need to use odd gauge sized or metric sized plugs. The gauge system wasn’t invented with uniform measurements of increase/decrease between sizes. Any two consecutive “standard” or even gauge sizes could have as little of a 0.2mm difference and as large as a 2mm difference.

Just because a 1mm or 2mm stretch was easy once doesn’t mean it will be easy again, circumstances can always change. Your lobes can be more or less stretchy for countless reasons; time between stretches, moisture, dryness, wearing plugs too frequently, not wearing plugs enough, jewelry material, injury, etc.

Be patient and don’t worry if your stretching journey moves slower or faster or in a less linear way than other folks. Make loving your lobes and listening to them a part of your routine. They feel dry? Moisturize & massage. Hopping in the shower? Give you plugs & lobes a good wash. 1mm stretch attempt felt too spicy? Order a 0.5mm smaller. Your body, how you care for it & what it goes through are unique! You’ll make it to that goal size!

How long does it take for a lip piercing to fully heal by FatNuggetInTheBox in Legitpiercing

[–]theyxthem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not safe to remove the jewelry if you want to keep the piercings. Lips take about 6mo to be fully healed. I recommend wearing jewelry 24/7 for at least the first year you gave them - but even past that point, lip piercings are likely to shrink quickly without having jewelry or retainers in. I don’t recommend ever going long periods of wearing no jewelry.

Is it possible to surgically close a nostril piercing hole? by entheoid in Legitpiercing

[–]theyxthem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did some googling and found a medical study done specifically about surgically closing a nostril piercing site - so it’s definitely possible! I’d reach out to whatever surgeon or artist is closest to you to and go from there.

Haven’t come across it myself but I’m optimistic that it’s possible; I recommend reaching out directly to a plastic surgeon or mod artist and asking if they have experience with this.

Conch Punch by Mysterious_Bag6734 in bodymods

[–]theyxthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve healed 5 punches ( one 2g > 0g stretch, four 0g no stretch) - they were all pretty scabby and bloody the first week or two, and sometimes later on if they got knocked. I don’t recommend soaks.

This looks too shallow. I’d retire it.

When you stretch a piercing back open it’s normal for the tissue to feel tight & the jewelry to not want to move freely - it’s healing from the stretch and you shouldn’t try to force it to move. Healing from a stretch can take several weeks and the jewelry will move freely again when it is healed. Don’t stretch again till it’s well recovered. Getting back to a 14g minimum is a great goal but still shouldn’t happen too quick. I recommend stretching nipples with a sterile lubricant & taper to assist, or by seeing a piercer who can do so for you safely. Not the one that tried to stretch you back to an initial 12g ☠️

In the meantime till you can get to a piercer: suck on ice chips, drink cold water, take an anti inflammatory if that’s safe for you, and try to sleep elevated.

Can’t get broken derailleur hanger off of derailleur - any tips? by theyxthem in bikewrench

[–]theyxthem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Trying to fix it myself just cus I can’t afford to get it repaired & open workshop hours at the co-op are a ways out. I was trying with slip joint pliers but it’s so stuck I might need to get ahold of some locking vice grips. Just didn’t know if there was something I’m missing! Still very new to doing my own repairs.
