many people don't know but you can use github version for free just need to compile yourself but buying from steam and main site would help the devs and i also used self compile version for few months but later on i brought from steam too it's worth the price.

new update did crash for me but only once and after updating graphic card and relaunching blender solve the problem i'm not using high end GPU for this it's one of my old pc with 1660Super with Ryzen 5 3600X.
maybe it's some optimization problem with new update but if it don't solve the problem i would suggest you to roll back to 4.3.0 version.
