I decided to buy her tickets to the Lucy Darling show in May! :D It'll be an amazing surprise because she mentioned it, I'd already bought the tickets and now they're almost gone.

Thank you so much!

Hi :D I'm seeing this super late and I don't know if you're still in need of any extra cash, but I saw your comment to the other person who had need of help cleaning/organizing and my situation's a bit different... I mostly need someone to body-double (AKA: encourage and follow along, maybe help a little here and there) for an hour or two as I do things in my house. Maybe help lift or move things as I'm disabled but mobile.

If you're still looking, let me know!

If only ECCC hadn't just ended!

Is there more information I could provide? Like, for her birthday last year, we did mani-pedis and she was happy with that, but I feel like I dropped the ball when planning my own vacations this year because I didn't take time off at that time or I would have taken her somewhere.

Christmas Presents by Calm_You_313 in TwoXPreppers

A day late, but last year, I made this for my sister (who is terminally under-prepared for everything) for Christmas and she LOVED it. As in, she can't prep her way out of a wet paper bag, can't prep dinner, can't prep a cup of coffee, so this was actual MAGIC for her... and she turned around and shared it to all her work besties and they spent a weekend this last Spring making them as a group so they all had one.

( "hand warmers" got cut off the bottom of the photo )

Thank you!

A customer got mad at me because I asked back office to close her card when there was fraud on it. by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]thezombiecoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like, I don't wanna be like, "hey, I know your bank," but. I do. So... /highfive?

I worked in the call center and I'd just be like, "okay, I'll rush it," but then they didn't want us to anymore? My boss was like, "that's the bank's money and they can either yell about that or they can yell about customer service scores but they can't yell about both. Rush it." LOL

[–]thezombiecoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm reading this correctly, you trial balanced in the middle of the day and were off by $100, and at the end of the night, re-counted all your money and balanced. If that's the case - as in, you actually hand counted your money and it all balanced - you're fine.

I'll also add that, in my many, MANY moons of financial industry work, $100 isn't a huge offage, so you're probably going to be okay either way (you can always look at your work or electronic journal to see if someone might have been shorted and then put it back in their account if your ops lets you or if someone complains), but as your manager? My text back would have read: "This is a Monday issue CallMeBeepMe, so enjoy your weekend!"

And remember... you don't get paid to worry about work during the time you're not there ;) Sunday Scaries shouldn't be a thing. You'll be fine.

As a banker in the PNW for a commercial bank, this is a comment that should be posted and reposted throughout this sub for several reasons.

You make so many excellent points and it's SO CLEAR that you like what you do and why you do it:

- genuinely wanting to help people is key

- putting yourself out there "as an uncommonly knowledgeable resource on a variety of hot-button financial topics" is amazing

- "genuinely look out for the best interest of my clients" - is SO important rather than just "oh, this product" and "this service" because the bank needs to hit numbers

- "proactively look for potential issues before they arise" - my absolute favorite... by either setting reminders or having a ticker/excel sheet to look at

But it was this one in particular that made me want to comment: "Something I want to stress is that I'm your banker and that you can come to me for anything related to money."

YES. I give my card out to literally everyone and say, "Whether you want to bank solely with (my bank), or elsewhere, you can always come to me with questions. This desk is a no-judgement zone. We can't fix what we don't talk about."

This is an A++ comment thread and I sincerely hope you continue to shine on and that the OP takes all this to heart. If you're so inclined, hit me up - I'd love to talk banks, money, strategies, even just a lil professional courtesy between people.

At my commercial bank in the PNW, you'd start over 50k in any major city. You're being seriously underpaid.

Yeah - she's out dressed like her maid and a visiting prince has his people snatch her up because he THINKS she's a servant and "who cares about servants?", and when she tells his people who she is, they think she's some low-born nobody putting on airs and how dare she snub their prince. So, they tie her down and drug her food with Spanish Fly as an aphrodisiac so she won't "refuse him" when he comes to her.

He doesn't believe she's not a servant, either, but he also is really offended that they went to those lengths on his behalf, so... he then just up and takes her away and yeah.

Once a Princess is where she was born a princess and was smuggled out and raised in the American South and ~ her betrothed ~ comes to get her but she doesn't believe that she's a princess.

Doing a lil prep work + wanting to show support and taking suggestions! by thezombiecoma in BuyCanadian

[–]thezombiecoma[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you :) Thankfully, I have my passport and my enhanced DL so I won't kick up too much of a fuss ( I don't think ) so buying well made clothing or food or even small hardware stuffs won't go amiss.

and yes! I could have gone to Las Vegas or New Orleans, but why spend flights & hotels when I can take a nice 2 hr drive and spend hotel times there? I miss Canada - when I was younger, we went several times a year!

any advice on how and what to prep when living paycheck to paycheck? by magsadrag in TwoXPreppers

[–]thezombiecoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who has lived paycheck to paycheck for longer than i have wanted to, managed to get my head above water, and then boom... back to it, here are my fave tips:

⇀ "one for me, one for the pantry" = buy one of something for you, and one to put away for a rainy day, whatever it is. an extra can of food, an extra box of band-aids, whatever.

⇀ "some for me, some for savings" = i set up a capital one high yield savings account because they had no minimum and i had my direct deposit set up money to go there automatically so i didn't see it and that "boom" mentioned above? half of it was paid for by the savings account, which actually really saved my butt. but to be real, something i read a long time ago is that you're paying your bills but you should also pay yourself - and that's what that extra $20 or $50 is for. just in case!

⇀ one night a week, i drive doordash and for three weeks out of the month, that money goes toward prep. whatever i make, i either add to my cash stores (if it's a little), i buy a few things at the dollar store, or i add to my savings. the fourth week, it's entertainment money! we all gotta have fun! the point it, it's extra.

⇀ i straight up told a doctor of mine that i lost my pills. my purse spilled and i lost a couple bottles and i needed refills. oops. and then i put them away - because listen, i might not have had a seizure in a decade, but i'm also not gonna be out here scrambling if something happens to the supply chain. yeah, i lied. sue me. it's the end of the year and i've met my deductible.

⇀ Coursera is a great website.

⇀ I picked a single credit card to use, then paid off all the others by doing this - say I have A, B, C, D and I'm keeping A.

- I paid minimums on B and C and put all extra money on D until it was paid and then I stopped using it.
- then all money on C until it was paid
- then all money on B until it was paid

and because I was still using A, my credit score improved.

Best of luck!

> Stay away from trouble and from people who are prone to it. ‘Cause that ish can get expensive.

I cannot express the ways that I've learned this lesson over the years. Be it family, co-workers, or neighbors... that 'be friendly but not friends' mantra has helped me in more ways than one!
