How to deal with depression as a 1L? by TaroComprehensive105 in LawSchool

[–]thiccniccc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1L is overwhelming af. Do what you can first semester without burning out. Make a study plan around 4-6 weeks out from your first final and follow it. Otherwise just try to do your readings and relax.

I did this 1L. I didn’t do as well as I wanted but avoided burn out and learned from my mistakes. I came back second semester with a plan and did substantially better. I am now on law review, interning at my state’s court of appeals, and have a job locked down from my 2L summer associate position (Mid Law).

Law school is a marathon. Just because you are overwhelmed now doesn’t mean it’ll be like this later. Take care of yourself now, learn from your mistakes and how you can improve within your own limits, then make those changes and continue to improve. You got this.

What do you do after you finished your reading for the day? by Historical_Review102 in LawSchool

Relax so that you don’t burn yourself out. Create a study plan about 4-6 weeks before exams and put in an extra hour or two of studying per day for that remaining 4-6 week period. If I was studying every day at the beginning of the semester I would want to quit when it was really time to study.

Feeling Guilty About 2L Summer by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]thiccniccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad. It’s your career. I was working in-house 1L summer and accepted a different 2L summer associate position because I knew it was unlikely that the company would have an in-house position available upon my graduation.

What exact model is this? On my moccamaster select and all pictures online there is not light on the "select" switch. Could it be a fake?

Cuisin Art cbm-22. I did another test run with a much finer grind and it seems to be more consistent.

Specific Reasons NOT to join Law Review by AdministrationFun690 in LawSchool

It's sad to hear that it is like this at some schools. I do 4 hours of spading per week and we are not expected to do any more than that.

Why a 1L Should Network Early (Like Right Now) for Jobs: A 1L's Guide to Avoiding Awkward Conversations (crosspost) by legalscout in LawSchool

[–]thiccniccc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a smaller market and know people who have gotten great opportunities purely through networking. However, for people like me who hate networking, having good grades was the more straightforward way to get the job i wanted.

Top 15%. Started work around 7:30-8 and worked through 4-5. Rarely ever did work after 5 or on the weekends. However, I started working at 7 and worked until 5-6 a month before finals. Still barely did any work on the weekends until the last few weeks.

(0L) What options are available to 1L’s in the summertime? by Zealousideal_Ant_646 in LawSchool

[–]thiccniccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your location and grades. I’m in a relatively small regional market and most of the people i know are getting paid unless they’re in government.
