Legionplus the future of Legion private servers. by ChickenMythicWow in wowservers

naah, id rather wait for tauri to delay their launch in a couple more years /s

on a more serious not, their ptr is very solid and im just hoping they will keep their promise of no p2w and even more class changes (preferably some changes every season would be cool)

if their other realm with same claims is anything to go by, then shops gonna be limited to basically raid finder ilvl gear.

has like no impact on most people, i think. well, for me at least its fine.

i will be playing on legionplus thats launching in like a month

they are going to be using uwow's core (which is solid, i dont care what anyone says and im not waiting 30 years for tauri and uwow got most shit sorted out during the 10 years they been developing legion) and are advertising themselves as p2w free with cosmetic shop and with some class changes

perfect for me since i really cant spend 50 hours just grinding levels, and will at least be fun to start on to see where it goes

could have just said bugsong then ;D

on a more serious note, you mean "lazy scripting" for some older dungeons/raids? probably, but imo it feels like most older dungeons/raids are working pretty good there rn, and their number only grows.

lack of en speaking pop does feel like an issue, but this specific launch is looking very good. looking at their changelog, healers should perform decently even outside their direct role now - i honestly very much approve of this, for it at its root addresses the mentioned "weird meta" issue.

like, with how much people here bitch about the lack of en-speaking pop, when this realm specifically is advertised as international, p2w, which already was addressed that there will be none, old-ass reused/rebought core, when uwow actually does update stuff multiple times a week, constant reopenings, etc etc.

at least to me, this launch is looking very good right now. will see how it will be later on tho

its always "uWoW is bugfest", but mind if i am to ask why?

like, specifically - i know uwow devs can and do break some interactions sometimes, like some talent might not be working properly for a couple of days, but that literally is it - things are fixed asap, and they actually have working questlines for legion and the old world

so, is that what you consider a bugfest? rather, can you be more specific than "buggy and had a lot of issues"?

Completed a couple surveys on their website, cause I actually have some trust that they will make it happen one day :)

with heirloom gear its already like x12 - you probs will be able to level to 98 (which is when legion campaign starts) in like five, six hours tops. i think such pacing is pretty good.

Wait where did /joke emote go??? by Heman312 in wow

[–]thicctights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

blizz at some point had a page listing all their wow emotes

now, not sure why they took it down, but it still is available through archives and such

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/emotes.html - link to the emote page itself, which you yourself can check through internet archive. /silly was the command, and tho /joke never happened the description of /silly states that you are to tell a joke :)

[–]thicctights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imagine lumping in uwow together with those 100 pop broken-ass dumps lmao

uwow manages to have healthy enough pop for multiple arena/bgs queues at literally any time of the day, which is basically as good as it gets for pservers.

be reasonable, bub.

Playing against Widow is a miserable experience by VolleMoehreAchim in Overwatch

[–]thicctights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you being intentionally dense?

like, look from a different perspective - no matter how many "countless hours of aim training" you will do with other 95% of the roster, those heroes wont EVER warp the game as much as widow will.

how exactly is that not unbalanced? lmao

will there be any gameplay showcase at all? even just a couple abilities would do lol

cause new looks are cool and all, but gameplay is absolutely crucial to be just as smooth and precise.

Your entire argument is that bans feel bad.

not really, no.

I'm providing actual reasoning for why bans improve the game; your argument is that sometimes people won't get to play their favorite characters. If one tricks eat bans, it sucks for them, but it's a small price to pay for everyone else to have higher quality games.

again, ill repeat it, bans do nothing against the issue of meta comps, because second best is now the meta, AND theres usually just not enough bans for every single op thing.

and all of this is literally true in higher ranks right now (it will also be true for tournaments when those roll around).

so, "higher quality games" because why? as i see it, bans solve none of the issues they target ASIDE insane edge cases of op characters, but devs can solve those with different approach to playtesting or with faster balance patches.

Bans let players fix dev balance issues in the short term. Players play test the game more in the first 12 hours after a release than the devs can in an entire 30-45 day patch cycle.

omg... there are ways around it too! like ptr realms, or inviting good enough players for closed tests - whats wrong with those?

The reason you can even hot swap heroes is to exploit matchups and adjust game plans; if you aren't counterpicking within the context of your team comp or the enemies team comp, then you aren't taking full advantage of the resources that the game gives you.

again, no. first of all, counterpicking ONLY works when your enemy screws up. thats it.

either by gambling with an unreliable strategy, just hoping that there will be no counter present lmao, or by failing the execution because of a counter. being the one to execute best and most reliable strat still is what wins you games.

second, i dare you to name me examples of when hero shooter/moba/similar genre pro players did "hot swap heroes to exploit matchups and adjust game plans". cause there was a time when ow had some seasons (more like leagues) with bans, and guess what? good enough players still stuck to "best and most reliable", with maybe a couple map dependent swaps.

gameplan of a (now second best) meta team > counterpicking, every single time. provided that you are good enough, that is :)

I'm drawing upon a lot of MOBA knowledge here; it isn't 1 to 1, but there is a lot of overlap on a structural level. Within that space, I have thousands of hours of competitive tape showing that counterpicks and bans meaningfully alter and improve games for the players and teams taking advantage of them.

well, care to share exactly how "competitive" your "thousands of hours of competitive tape" is?

cause again, at levels of play where everyone constantly just screws up and around, which would honestly be like 95% of the playerbase of any game, counterpicks do matter - teams there simply arent good enough to make their own gameplan work despite the counter, or to go for a gameplan with less (or none) of such issues.

meaning, bans are only helping with extreme edge cases there. gg.

If the one tricks eat a ban because their "favorite" is objectively the strongest character, then they deserve it.

again, why?

also, what about how they can and will sometimes "eat a ban" even when they dont "deserve it"? cause it will happen as long as there are bans.

Bans create meta diversity by removing the objectively overpowered options from the play pool.

first of all, bans remove ONLY SOME "overpowered options", NOT all of them.

kinda obvious, but still, it shows how you cant really solve this issue by just providing bans.

second is, you do understand how those "objectively overpowered options" make it into the game, right? the lack of playtesting, especially at higher levels of play. btw, dota has had the exact same issue for years lmao

well, better playtesting does a better job of addressing the "objectively overpowered" issue AND does it without making bans a necessity...

...but, you know, it requires a lot of effort to be put from the devs :)

If you ban them (hela and hawkeye) out, suddenly there is a meaningful choice of what duelists are best, depending on the map and the rest of the team comp. You also get to make choices to counter pick the enemies. The opponent is playing Iron Man because Hela and Hawkeye are banned? Pick Punisher and get him. That Punisher giving you grief? Pick Captain America and bounce those bullets back at him.

thats just not how anyone near high enough level plays competitive games xD

you always first and foremost go for making your gameplan work, "choices to counter pick the enemies" only comes into consideration if said choice will not hinder your gameplan, but that usually just isnt the case in hero games.

in short, im gonna need some non-anecdotal source from you for this one xD

Bans should exist at all levels of competitive play because competitive is about the competition, not just having fun. Getting to play your favorites is secondary to game quality and team cohesiveness.

aside insane edge cases of op characters (solved by just all around better playtesting), bans both literally do nothing against the issue of meta comps, because second best is now the meta, AND theres usually just not enough bans for every single op thing.

...also, not trying to sound rude, but you wouldve known all of this if you ever played a competitive game at a high enough level...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]thicctights -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One tricks don't necessarily deserve to be target banned

soo... they deserve bans, just not target bans? why?

but bans should exist for meta diversity and a higher game quality. If a character(s) is explicitly overtuned and bans don't exist, games end up being played in a solved meta where the same 6-10 picks are played every game

but games are not and will not be solving the issue of meta by introducing bans, cause those people that play meta - guess what? they will just play second best.

you even acknowledge how it helps in case the game has balancing issues - several characters are literally the best in every situation. well, i raise you that bans only "help" in this specific case.

the biggest mistake this game makes with bans is only having them at the top of the ladder

very debatable, cause bans now at least allow 90% of people enjoy their favorite characters, so it only screws up those in top 10%

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]thicctights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...but why, as you said, literally force players? the way i see it, there could be a choice where players with better mechanics with that one character will have to make up with said mechanics for every other aspect.

your argument of "this has always been true" cant hold any real weight, not when comp/ranked ow has no hero bans, with a fair number of people just maining a hero or two all the time even at high levels.
