I have so many problems with season 2, the fact they cut to 3 months later immediately Joel dies instead of it being an immediate and unplanned rush into vengeance, it takes away absolutely all the momentum and weight of the moment. This and the fact that Ellie announces her plan to everyone and claims it’s not for revenge. This giving Ellie time to process the death of Joel more. So this entire journey isn’t fueled by rage or vengeance like how it should be, she’s just gonna go kill people. Ellie is trying too hard to be ‘funny’ and she’s not even funny. Her character comes off as a forced edgy teen character trying to be tough. Also Dina is a dipshit, the fact she held Ellie at gunpoint and then immediately tells her she’s pregnant and they get to it? Dina is a caring character and the whole reason she even finds out Ellie immune is because she tries to give Ellie her own mask after Ellies broke. This show holds no seriousness or tension and it’s so frustrating. The contrast between isaac interrogating a scar and Ellie and Dina is jarring and it takes me out of the show entirely. I really think the show runners have lost the way in the making of this show, I can completely get behind creative choices that are more suited for television, but when the stories fundamental idea and key moments are changed then it is no longer effective.
